Story: Killian De Luca
Twenty-Two
Killian
“You need to stop fucking around and get this job done,” my dad demands angrily over the phone.
It’s been more than three weeks since I arrived in Bulgaria.
In those three or so weeks, I haven’t even attempted to kill Malcom.
Not when he was alone in the gym or in the office.
Not when he asked me to help out his daughter with this ridiculous mission.
And guess what?
I don’t give a shit.
Especially when my dad is yelling at me from the other end of the phone.
I stepped out of the room so that Reign couldn’t hear my conversation with my dad.
Right now, she’s unpacking her stuff in the room while I’m on the balcony.
Malcom told me to take care of the rooms and then threw me his AMEX.
I took care of it alright.
$14,000 a night in a suite room with a view of the Eiffel Tower almost as beautiful as Reign. If I’m going on a trip with my enemy’s daughter, I’m damn sure going to make it a good vacation.
Of course, he doesn’t know that those charges are for a suite room instead of a luxurious double.
momfucker keeps calling me brat.
“I am. I’m not in Bulgaria right now.”
“What?”
“I said, I’m not in Bulgaria, right now,” I deadpan.
“Why not? Where are you?”
I look at the Eiffel Tower. “Paris. It’s a beautiful day out here. Not many tourists either.”
“What are the fuck are you doing in Paris? You should be in Bulgaria killing that asshole,” my dad screams through the phone making me roll my eyes.
He’s always had serious anger issues. That’s where Thalia gets her anger issues from but her husband, Alexander, knows how to handle her. He always has, which makes me know for a fact that he is the perfect match for her.
“I’m gaining their trust. Calm down,” I say calmly even though I feel my heart fucking clench. “They want me to make sure the girl is safe on her trip.”
“Malcom’s such a fucking pussy when it comes to that daughter.” Pretty sure my dad is rolling his eyes. “Killian, you need to stop fucking around. This needs to get done. You only have so much time-”
“I know,” I cut him off harshly, more than I wanted to. That control and calmness slipping slowly. “You don’t have to remind me, I’m not stupid.”
“Then why isn’t it done?”
“I don’t question you, I expect you to do the same.”
“Last time I checked, I’m the one in charge. So, when I say jump, you ask how high. When I want an answer, I get it. So, stop acting like a child and get the job done.” The sound of a door opening makes me turn my head. I see Reign walking out of the bedroom wearing a skirt and a white halter top. “Killian-”
I hang up and shove the phone in my back pocket.
Her long legs make me feel hypnotized and the halter top she’s wearing shows off her smooth shoulders and makes me want to rip the thing off so I can see what’s underneath.
“Why are you wearing that?”
“We’re in Paris. I was going to walk around the street and look at the shops.”
I furrow my eyebrows at her. “We’re here for a mission, not to shop. Get dressed into something more comfortable to train in.”
Her eyes sparkle and a small smile lifts on her face. “We’re training again?”
“Why wouldn’t we?”
"Well, you stopped the training.”
“And you stopped showing up,” I backfire.
She crosses her arms over her chest making her breasts look fuller. “You never mentioned it to me. How am I supposed to know what you’re thinking when you never tell me?”
My lips lift in my smirk, and I shake my head lightly.
The way she gets so angry over not knowing anything about me is funny. She knows everything about her Star, but she has no clue that she is looking right at him.
When I first started texting Reign, I knew that she was an innocent timid thing, but I also knew she had a little bit of darkness because why the hell would anyone confess their secrets and darkest thoughts to someone they don’t even know?
Don’t worry Reign, I’m going to tap into the darkness for you.
