Page 83 of Boss of Attraction
I hated how I was coming across, but I was still angry about the situation.
I wouldn’t say it’s a good thing, but it gives me some time
What about the Escalade?
Keep it for now
Are you sure?
It would just sit in the garage and you need it
I’ve been saving money. I can go get a new car
It’s fine
Ok. Thanks. Enjoy the rest of your holiday. I’ll see you back in the office after the first of the year
I left the bathroom and went to the living room where I was sleeping while my mom was in town. She and Sam were already asleep, and after silencing my phone, I passed out.
Merry fucking Christmas to me.
True to his word,I hadn’t heard from Sean in days, and my mood hadn’t improved. I tried my best to act happy in front of my mom and even took her around town and ice skating before she returned to Pennsylvania, but nothing I did made me forget about Sean Ashford. I didn’t think he’d fire me over the situation, but having to see him in the office everyday was going to be tough. I supposed that was one reason people shouldn’t date their boss.
Lying in bed, I heard my phone ding with a text. I grabbed it and saw a message from Fallon:
I’ll be there in 20
I quickly typed back:
Why?
What do you mean why? NYE
I blinked and quickly looked at the date on my phone, not realizing it was the last day of the year.
I’m going to bail
Why?
Not feeling it
Are you sick?
No
I’ve never known you to turn down going out to party. Especially on NYE. What’s going on?
Just … shit
I’ll be there soon and we can chat about it
You don’t need to do that
I’m already on my way
I knew I wouldn’t be able to stop Fallon from showing up, and it was my fault for bailing on him, but I really didn’t feel like going out dancing. Drinking, maybe. Yeah, definitely drinking.
I quickly showered. As I left the bathroom to get dressed, there was a knock on the door. “Coming!” I called out.
