“Looks like we need a shower.” He winked.
After getting cleaned up,Sean and I went to his kitchen dressed only in our boxers. We were both starving because the shower led to another round and we’d worked up an appetite.
“All right, let’s see what culinary masterpieces Jasper has prepared for me today,” Sean said, swinging open the fridge door.
When I peered inside, my stomach growled. The shelves were stocked with neatly arranged containers.
“Looks like Chef Jasper has been busy,” I remarked, a smile tugging at the corners of my lips.
Sean chuckled, plucking out a couple of containers and setting them on the counter. “Indeed, he has.”
“I thought he was just making you food for tonight?”
“He tends to have several meals prepared for me because he has other clients.”
“Oh, gotcha. So what did he make?”
Sean opened one container. It looked like it was mashed potatoes.
“It’s cottage pie.”
“I’ve never tried it before,” I admitted.
“Really? What about shepard’s pie?”
I shook my head. “I’ve heard of it but haven’t had it.”
Sean turned to the oven to preheat it as he spoke. “Shepard’s pie is made with lamb, but I prefer ground beef, so this is cottage pie. There are some spices and peas, carrots, and sometimes corn topped with cheesy mashed potatoes. Once I heat it and the potatoes brown, it will warm your heart. Just watch.”
“Can’t wait.”
While the oven heated up, Sean grabbed two wine glasses.
“Did Jasper unpack everything for the kitchen?” I asked. When I was over at his place on Saturday there was still a lot to be done, and now it appeared the kitchen was taken care of.
“I think so. I hated to make him unpack the stuff, but he was willing when I said he could organize everything the way he wanted.”
I looked around the open floor plan and saw several more boxes in the living room still to unpack. “How long until the food is ready?”
Sean popped the cork on a bottle of red wine. “Twenty-five to thirty minutes once it’s in the oven.”
“Want me to help unpack more?”
“You don’t need to do that.”
I watched as he poured a glass of wine. “I know, but I want to. We didn’t get that much done the other day.”
“Are you sure?”
I shrugged. “Yeah, why not?”
“Okay.” He placed the glass in front of me. “But just until dinner is ready. I don’t want you to think that’s the only reason I invited you over.”
“Please.” I chuckled and took a quick sip of the wine. “I’m sure I can think of other reasons.”
“Behave.” He swatted my ass playfully. “Or we aren’t going to eat at all.”
We walked more into the living room and I went to a box that was labeled: FAMILY PICTURES
