Page 27 of Boss of Attraction
We said goodbye, and then Ryan and I headed toward the buses. When we reached the front of the house, I saw Declan and his friends stumble onto one of the buses. The door closed behind them, and we climbed aboard the other one.
Once back at the hotel, Ryan started for the elevator while I glanced toward Declan as he stood near the bar with his friends.
“Hey, you go on up. I’ll see you in the morning.”
Ryan turned to see where I was looking. “Who’s that? He looks familiar.”
“He’s a friend of Fallon’s and my new employee.”
“Oh, okay. Are you going to go talk to him?”
I nodded. “Yeah. I’ll see you at breakfast tomorrow.”
“Sounds good.”
Once the elevator doors closed behind my son, I walked over to Declan. “Hey, you doing okay?”
His eyes widened when he saw me. “Bossman! What are you doing here?”
The nickname had me thinking about the text he’d sent me by accident, and a small smile crossed my face as I thought about his compliment. “I’m just checking on you. Looks like you had a good time.”
“I did, but now I want to go to bed.”
“Don’t be a party pooper, Dec,” Marco whined.
“Yeah, we just ordered another round of shots.” Luca tried to pass one to his friend.
Declan groaned but didn’t respond.
“Why don’t you guys hang out? I can make sure Declan gets to his room,” I offered.
Marco lifted an eyebrow. “You sure?”
I nodded. “It’s no problem.”
Marco and Luca exchanged mischievous grins before shrugging and clinking their shot glasses together.
“What room are you in?” I asked as Declan and I waited for the elevator.
“316.”
When we got into the elevator, he stood right next to me and leaned against the wall behind us.
“You smell good,” he mumbled.
“Thanks,” I replied, unsure what else to say.
A soft ding signaled our arrival on the third floor. As the doors slid open, I guided him toward his room. “Do you have your key?”
He reached into his pocket and pulled out the plastic card. “Yep.”
It took him two tries, but he managed to open his door.
“Are you going to be okay?” I asked.
“Yeah, Bossman. I’ll be good. Thanks for walking me up here.”
“Okay.” Our gazes met for a second. “Get some sleep, drink water, and take something for a headache before you fall asleep.”
