Page 42 of Boss of Attraction
Fallon’s eyebrows shot up in surprise. “Complicated how?”
I took a deep breath, trying to gather my thoughts. “Well, for starters, we kissed.”
Fallon’s eyes widened in shock. “You kissed my uncle?”
I nodded, feeling a knot forming in my stomach. “I thought things between us would be weird, but they aren’t. I went condo hunting with him today and?—”
“Wait. You two went condo hunting?”
“Yeah. His kids couldn’t make it and he wanted someone else’s opinion because he wants to sell his house and move closer to the office.”
“Wow. I had no idea.”
“And—”
“But hold up. You kissed?”
I grimaced slightly and looked off to the side. “Maybe?”
“How the hell did that happen? He’s straight.”
“You keep telling me that, but I’m not so sure.”
“He was married and has kids,” Fallon stated, as though I didn’t know.
“Come on, baby boy. You know how I have Poppy,” Rhett chimed in from where he stood behind Fallon.
“I have never known him to be into guys,” Fallon clarified.
“Maybe it’s just me.” I smirked, liking that idea.
“Okay, but he is also your boss.”
“I know.” I sighed. “That’s why it’s complicated. He put the brakes on, and I totally get it.”
“It’s probably for the best.”
Maybe Fallon was right, but I liked the time I was spending with Sean when it was just the two of us. “Maybe, but don’t say anything, okay?”
“Of course not. That’s his business, not mine.”
“Thanks.”
After a few drinks, Fallon and I called it a night. Rhett and his guys drove us back to my apartment building, then dropped me off with a quick wave.
Alone once again, I let out a tired sigh and trudged up the stairs to my apartment. As I stepped inside and closed the door behind me, my mind was once again fixed on Sean. No man had ever consumed my thoughts the way he was, and it sucked because we couldn’t be more. Or at least, he said we couldn’t be more. He was the one who had said we needed to forget the kiss, and as far as he knew, I had.
But, of course, I hadn’t.
I kicked off my shoes and made my way to the kitchen to grab a bottle of water. My phone vibrated in my pocket, and I thought I would see a text from Fallon, but it was from Sean. My eyes widened as I read the message.
I know it’s late, but I just wanted to say thanks again for this afternoon. I couldn’t wait and submitted an offer. I truly appreciated your help today. Have a great night. See you tomorrow
I felt no hesitation as I sent back:
Anytime. Hope you get the place and have a good night too. See you in the morning
