Fallon: On my way
As I stuck my phone back into my pocket, Sam slid a plate of fish and chips in front of me.
“On the house. You deserve it after surviving that torture of an exam.”
“You’re the best.” I stuck a fry into my mouth.
Sam dealt with her customers while I ate my food and waited for Fallon. Several minutes later, the door swung open, and two of Fallon’s Secret Service agents walked in.
“Now this just made my day,” Sam gushed as she stared at the agents. Maybe Fallon needed to hook her up with one.
I chuckled and with everyone else in the bar, I watched as the men did their sweep and then walked out. A second later, Fallon came inside. He joined us at the bar, and Sam immediately greeted him.
“Fallon! Congrats on completing the bar exam.”
He smiled. “Thanks, Sam. How’d you think you did?” he asked me.
I lifted a shoulder. “Not sure. You?”
“I feel good, but who knows.”
“Exactly. I think I did well, but we won’t know until we get the results in October.”
“What can I get you to drink, Fallon?” Sam asked.
“What are you drinking?” he pointed at my half-drunk cocktail.
“Peach Long Island.”
“That sounds about right. I’ll have what he’s having and the fish and chips as well.”
“Eating too?” I questioned. “You don’t need to go home to Rhett?”
“He’s having dinner with Poppy at her favorite restaurant and then taking her to her mom’s. I have a few hours.”
“I’m sure he’ll help youunwindlater.” I waggled my eyebrows.
The memory of what Fallon and I used to do every Friday night tounwindafter a week of classes flashed in my head.
“I’m sure he will.” Fallon smirked.
“But speaking of hot agents. Think we can hook Sammy up with Agent Vance or one of the others?”
My roommate’s blue eyes widened. “Declan!”
“You have the hots for Vance?” Fallon grinned.
I stuck another fry into my mouth. “She has the hots for all of them.”
“I do not.” She swatted me playfully with a bar towel.
“Don’t lie to the man. You’re always talking about his agents.” I winked at her. She was probably going to poison my coffee in the morning.
“He’s single,” Fallon confirmed.
“There you go,” I stated.
“And what about you?” she questioned. “You’re single too.”
