“What guy?” Rafael asked.

“It’s in my phone. The coordinates. And the name.”

I looked at Rafael, who immediately grabbed Ethan’s phone.

“Anything?” I asked as he kept tapping the screen.

Ethan was already out of it, his eyes glassy and staring at a spot on the wall. The drug we’d given him was getting too strong.

Soon, he wouldn’t just be confused.

He’d be useless.

“I got it!” Rafael said.

“Let’s go!” I put a bullet in Ethan’s head.

Rafael and I raced for the door.

“What’s our plan?” Rafael asked once we were in the car.

“We send a message and wait to see who shows up.”

“And we grab the guy?”

“No, we don’t grab the guy.”

Rafael’s brow furrowed as his gaze met mine. “Then what do we do?”

“I don’t think that guy knows anything either. He’s just there to send a message. If we captured him and tortured him, we’d be wasting our time. We need to follow him and make sure he doesn’t figure it out. He’s going to lead us to Santino.”

“Are you sure?”

I nodded. “Once he sees Ethan’s not coming, he’ll know something’s up. He’ll want to let his boss now.”

“Won’t he just make a call?”

“I don’t think so. It’s very likely Santino is still in our territory because while he’s messing with me, he doesn’t want to catch anyone else’s attention or be forced to fight. The guy won’t want to make a call because we might intercept it. He’ll find a way to get the message to the boss.”

“Wait, but then he has to know where Santino is. We could just capture him and have him tell us where his boss is.”

“I don’t think so. He’ll meet with someone else and then the message will get to Santino. But they have to move very quickly. Otherwise, the message would be useless.”

“And they’ll be less careful if they think the message has to get to Santino as soon as possible.”

“The only problem is if they decide they don’t care about why the mole didn’t show up.”

“I think Santino still counts on Ethan to tell him everything we’re doing so he can be one step ahead of us. He’ll want to know.”

I hoped that was the case.

“Our team is ready,” Rafael said. “As soon as we have Santino’s location, we can strike.”

“Good. Park over there. We don’t want to go too close.” I pointed across the street.

The meeting spot was supposed to be not too far away.

“Is that him?” Rafael whispered a few moments later.
