His lips spread into a smile. He was now only a few inches away. My gaze lowered to his lips. I wanted to kiss him. His head tipped toward mine, his eyes focused on my mouth too.

I pulled away at the last moment. Disappointment flashed through Luca’s eyes.

He was just doing this to get something.

He thought that he could manipulate me.

But he was wrong.

I wasn’t going to let him do that, so I headed for the door.

Luca was a sweet, sweet temptation.

I didn’t know how I was going to fight it.

Chapter 10

TWO DAYS LATER, I GOTa message from Rafael saying that he wanted to talk to me, so I was on my way to his office when I heard shouting.

It sounded like it was coming from the lunchroom, so I broke into a run to get there as soon as possible.

The alarms weren’t blaring, so I doubted there was an intruder. Something else was up, and I had to find out what.

I burst through the door, my hand reaching for my gun. But there was no need for me to shoot.

Or maybe there was.

The guards were trying to drag Luca away from one of my men, who was holding his hand over his jaw.

Everyone was shouting something, and I couldn’t hear anything.

“Hey,” I yelled at the top of my lungs, and everything went silent.

Everyone’s eyes turned to me, including Luca’s.

The quickest way to resolve this was to get Luca out of here.
