Chapter 21
“LUCA,” I CALLED ASsoon as I spotted him in the hallway. “Would you like to watch a movie with me later?”
As soon as I returned from my visit to my parents, I knew I wanted to talk to him, even though I didn’t really know what to say or how to say it.
I supposed I was just terrible at relationships, but maybe I could figure it out and hear his thoughts.
If he and I wanted the same thing, then I didn’t see any problems.
Even if he didn’t want the same as me, well then, at least I’d know.
A movie seemed just like the right thing to break the ice.
“Not really,” he said. “The guys set up a gym in the back. I’m going to train with them.”
“Um, okay.” I didn’t know he’d made some friends, but if he had, that was a good thing. “What about lunch after that? You’ll be hungry.”
“I’ll probably grab something to eat on my own.” His face was serious, his eyes missing some of their usual shine.
What the hell was going on?
Had something happened while I was gone?
I opened my mouth to ask, but Rafael waved at me from the end of the hallway.
“Looks like you’re needed,” Luca said and walked away from me.
When Rafael reached me, I was still looking after Luca.
“I think I know what we can do,” Rafael said.
His words were a blur after that.
“Hmm?” I blinked at him. “What did you say?”
“I said that I needed to talk to you. In private.”
I furrowed my brow because there was no one in the hallway except for us.
“Come with me.” He headed down the hallway, and I followed him.
He took me to a small, empty room, and he closed the door behind us after making sure no one was outside.
“What’s going on?” I asked.
“Keep your voice down. I checked this room multiple times, so it should be safe, but we need to be careful.”
“I don’t understand.”
“I think I know how Santino’s mercenaries found the back exit.”
“How?” I gave him an expectant look.
“Someone told them. Someone who’s with us.”
“What? We have a mole?”
