“You have good taste.”

“Thanks.”

“TAKE US TO PURPLE,”I said to Rafael, and his eyes bulged.

He touched my arm, so I stepped away from Luca. “I know you’re trying to do something special for him, but isn’t a nightclub a little too much? He could slip away in the crowd.”

“That’s why you’ll all be with us. He didn’t try anything at the restaurant. It’ll be okay.”

“Fine.” He pressed his lips into a tight line to show me his displeasure, but I wasn’t about to change my mind.

I got in the back seat with Luca. “You’re going to love our next stop.” I winked at him, and he cocked his head at me, but I didn’t want to tell him anything more about it.

Once we got in front of the club, he was staring through the window in wonder.

“This is my favorite nightclub. Everyone knows me here.” I looked into Luca’s dark eyes to make sure that he was aware there’d be no escaping from me once we were inside.

When we got out of the car, Luca kept looking around, but the guards were very close to us, and he wouldn’t get far even if he broke into a run.

But something in his eyes made me think that he wasn’t planning to escape.

He was thinking about something, except I didn’t know what it was.

The music was loud and there were plenty of people and flashy lights. I caught Luca’s arm and pulled him with me to the bar.

After I ordered a few drinks, I pushed one of the glasses to him.

“You’ll like this,” I shouted.

He eyed the glass, and then he took a gulp. He scrunched his nose and ended up coughing, but he took another sip anyway.

One drink turned into another.

And another.

Luca caught my hand, stumbling toward me. “Can we dance?”

“Yeah.” I let him tug me to the dance floor, but I pulled my gun out of the holster under my jacket and secretly handed it to Rafael.

Luca’s arms wound around me, and I wrapped mine around his neck. He grinned at me, his eyes glassy.

He was drunk, but he was also having a good time.

We swayed to the music, and I loved the way his warm body was pressed against mine. It made me forget about everything and everyone else.

It was just the two of us on the dance floor.

Free of any worries.

I stared deep into his dark eyes, and when his head tipped to mine, I didn’t pull away. His lips brushed mine, shyly at first, but when I returned his kiss, he grew bolder, his mouth colliding with mine.

Warmth spread all over my body, and I knew I wanted more.

More of him.

Luca’s hands roamed up and down my back, sending shivers of desire through me.
