Chapter 26

IF LUCA WERE HERE,I doubted even he would be kind to this guy.

Ethan was tied to a chair, his short brown hair caked with blood. When his brown eyes opened, they widened.

“What are you doing?” he asked, his voice full of panic.

“We know what you really are,” I said. “And you’re going to help us find my husband.”

“I don’t understand. I thought you knew—”

Rafael entered the room with a syringe in his hand.

“What’s that?” Ethan’s eyes were so huge they looked like they were about to pop.

Ethan struggled, but he couldn’t get away, and Rafael stabbed him in the neck.

Ethan blinked.

“Where am I?” he whispered.

“Valentina found out where Oscar is,” Rafael whispered into his ear. “You need to warn him before she gets to him.”

“Yes. Warn him,” Ethan mumbled.

“How are you going to do that?”

“Send a message.”

“But you can’t send a message. The system’s not working. Is there something else you can do?”

“I... I need to...” He audibly swallowed.

“Focus, Ethan,” I said. “You need to save your boss. How are you going to do that?”

“The meeting spot,” Ethan whispered. “I’m going to go to the meeting spot. Send an empty message to my guy. He’ll know...”
