My eyebrows shot up.

“For her.” He gave me a deadpan look. “What’s her name?”

“Jessica.” I waved over one of the guards. “Bring me a bottle of water and a protein bar.”

The guard nodded and hurried off.

Luca and I stared at each other until the guard returned. He gave Luca the bottle and the bar, and then Luca went for the door.

“The guards need to get out too,” he said.

Rafael gave me a questioning look.

I debated what to do.

Was there a chance Luca knew Jessica? Was there something he might tell her? I didn’t think so. We had cameras anyway.

“All right. Everyone out,” I said.

Luca went inside.

“What is he doing?” Rafael asked as he stopped next to me.

“I don’t know.”

“We’re wasting time we don’t have.”

“I’ll give him ten minutes. If his plan doesn’t work, we’re taking her downstairs, okay?”

Rafael nodded.

I paced up and down in the hallway.

And then I noticed something strange.

Silence.

Jessica wasn’t screaming or crying anymore.

I went closer to the door, taking a peek inside.

Luca was crouched in front of Jessica, his hand covering hers.

She was still sniffling, but she was looking at him.

She had her eye on my hot husband, didn’t she?

Ugh.

“All they want to know is what you know about Oscar Santino, okay? Can you tell them that?” Luca asked softly.

She nodded. “Yeah. Yes.”

“Do you want some more water?” He lifted the bottle.

“Please,” she said.

He brought the bottle to her lips, tipping it.
