Story: Merciless Intents
He stumbled back and landed on his ass. I didn’t knee him super hard—basically enough to take him down a peg but not enough to require medical attention. It was meant as more of a warning not to touch me.
Warning or not, however, the look of pure evil staring at me from the floor was enough to shake my confidence to the core.
The looks that Harper had given mepaledin comparison to Damian.
Whispers and talking erupted all around me, and I looked up to see dozens of students loitering in the halls, mouths agape and eyes wide as they quietly discussed what just happened with their friends.
“You need to go.Now,” Asher said.
My eyes lifted from Damian to Asher, and I saw the clear warning there.
And, lord help me, I don’t know why…
Idon’tfucking know why…
But I looked back down at Damian, and I smiled. “Like I said. I’m not the one you want to fuck with. Unlike everyone else here, Wolfe, the lamb bites back.”
I stepped around him, making sure there was a wide enough gap between us he couldn’t grab me as I passed. My eyes took in all the vultures standing around, gawking at me. However, there was one person who stood out above all.
My sister.
Harper Avery.
And the look of absolute terror on her face as she stared me down told me everything I needed to know.
No good deed goes unpunished.
And I had a feeling my punishment would be swift and severe.
So much for staying out of everybody’s way.
So much for keeping my promise to Harper and staying away fromDamian fucking Wolfe.
CHAPTER TWO
DAMIAN
What…
The…
Fuck…
Neverin my life had I experienced anything like that. Likeher. Who the hell did she think she was? Who the hell didHarperthink she was? She sure as shit didn’t mention that she was pitting me against the fucking Black Widow. It was just a knee to the nuts and a backhand, but the fucking confidence and lack of hesitation—plus the way she’d blocked me twice and thepowerbehind all of it—told me that girl was hiding alotmore than hair pulling and scratching.
Once she was gone, I collected what I had left of my pride and hobbled away. The guys were good enough to surround me for the most part, so I didn’t have quite so many people watching me and thinking about how I’d just gotten my ass handed to me.
Or more accurately… my balls.
Speaking of which, they were fucking killing me, but something told me that little talent show could have gone a hell of a lot worse. Seriously, what the hell? Shocked wasn’t even a good enough descriptor. I wasn’t one for using stupid words, but there was only one that fully encompassed just how blown my mind was, and that was flabbergasted.
I was fucking flabbergasted.
Andpissed.
“Are you alright?” Michael asked. “You want us to go get her?”
“Yeah, we were kind of shocked. Otherwise, we would have grabbed her already,” Everett said.
