“Yuh feel betta now?” Nickoi asks and I nod, peeling myself off the bathroom floor. Ugh. Waking up with a hangover that turns my stomach into a rollercoaster wasn’t exactly on my to-do list. Ahh bwoy.
With a gentle hand, Nickoi helps me up, guiding me to the sink as he turns on the faucet.
Mi feel terrible. I rinse my mouth and glance back at him, and for the first time, I see a glimmer of concern in his eyes.
He almost looks worried. Awww the bwoy love yuh til’ him fool!
“Mi feel a little better,” I say and he nods.
“Ah mi a go get sup’m fi yuh,” he says before he walks out.
I smile at him before I start my morning routine. As I showered my mind ran on the unfamiliar shirt that I woke up in and that weird feeling in my body. Why mi nah member nutt’n? I mean...
I know for sure miss maa’am down there was busy last night...
When we even reach home? Wah even happ’m?
I wrap my body in the towel and walk to the room just in time to see Nickoi fishing through the bag. “What time we reach back yer last night?” I ask, trying to remember. His smirk alone, tells me allllllll I need to know.
“Yuh nuh member nutt’n?”
“Did we?” I grin, even though I totally know what went down. I mean, Miss Ma’am was definitely busy last night!
“Wah?” I have a feeling he’s playing with me.
“We have sex?” I ask him. He shakes his head no confusing me.
“No sah,” he looks away.
“But mi feel sore,” I let out an uncertain giggle. Am I delusional or was I dreaming?
“A joke man,” then he sings, “Zara bad like gyal inna bluez,” and I burst out laughing.
A wah mi gwaan wid? “Mi nuh member nutt’n,” I whine.
“Cause yuh did frass,” he says, his gaze burning into me. I look away, trying to find something to wear because his stare is way too much to handle.
“Mi embarrass miself?” I ask, turning my back to him while I grab a pink two-piece.
When I turn back around, I squint at Nickoi, who looks a bit down, fidgeting with his keys. He was just all smiles. “A wah?” I say, echoing my confusion.
“Yuh never embarrass yuhself,” he reassures me. Mi know sup’m else a bother him. But why and why now? All of a sudden so?
“Yuh just get vex outta nowhere, a wah?” I pry, and he shakes his head with this strange smile. Even though he’s smiling, I can tell he’s bothered. Laad Jesus.
“Yuh seh sup’m to me last night weh mi neva like,” he finally drops the bomb.
“Mi did drunk Nickoi,” I defend. Mi nuh have a clue wah mi say to him last night enuh.
“Mi father always seh when people drunk a them real self that enuh. So yuh see the things dem weh dem would a hide when them sober them talk it out when them in a da state deh,” he says in an unfamiliar tone, staring at me. He sounds hurt. A wah mi really seh to this man.
“What did I say Nickoi?” I ask slowly.
He gets up. “Lowe that.”
“Please tell me nuh,” I beg him and he hisses.
“Zara wah mi just seh?” He counters and I sigh, sitting at the edge of the bed looking at him.
“If we have a problem why yuh find it hard fi talk bout it?” him stressing enuh. Chro!
“Cause it better if we leggo certain things,” he shrugs.
“Mi wah talk, so talk to me please,” I plead and he lets out a labored breath.
“Wah kind o’ badness yuh think mi inna cause yuh seh yuh aware mi into that?” Nickoi asks.
“Drugs, scamming and gangs,” I tell him. “And Nickoi, I know you are into that and it’s fine with me cause I love you for who you are mi nuh care wah kind of illegal stuff you do for a living cause I love you.”
“Yeah so why yuh so curious b since yuh understand wah mi inna?”
“Because I just want to...” I was saying but I realize that there’s no point. “Okay I’m just so curious because I don’t want to lose you.”
“Yuh nah lose me,” he tells me. Okay, Mr. Immortal.
“Okay, then I’ll give you space,” I throw my hands up in surrender. “Before we do that though, mi wah be clear about wah mi seh and fix it.”
“Yah, yuh seh if yuh find out mi a talk bout badness you a lef me,” I gasp once his words surfaced.
“Mi seh that!?” I slap my hand over my mouth.
“Yah,” he plops down.
I scoot over, playing with his hair as he looks up at me. “I don’t know what got into me, but I’m sorry for that, Nickoi... if yuh only know how much I love you, I could never get up and just walk away, even if I tried,” I plant a quick kiss on his lips.
“Ah.”
“And the only reason apart from worrying if somebody else a go take yuh from me, is your safety. Mi nuh wah lose yuh in any way... I don’t want to see you getting hurt, it literally freaks me out.
Mi doh wah fi ever rush to a hospital not knowing if you’re alive or not and that’s why I’m curious too.
It’s just the love that I have for you but I’mma give you your space.
It a go be hard but I promise,” I add and he smirks, hugging my ass.
“Ah... and yuh kno’ how long the breakfast down there fi yuh. Put on this,” he gives me a pair of black silk PJ’s.
Ouu this is cuuute. I smile. “Nickoi, more gifts?”
“Just put that on mon and guh meet Christen,” he chuckles. “She’s the chef.” Him just know mi would a’ ask.
“Okay,” I reply, watching him as he strolls into the bathroom, a whole walking snack. Yum. Once dressed, I fix my hair and make my way down to the kitchen.
“Good morning,” I smile when I spot the lady. “You’re the chef?”
She nods. “Yes I’m Chef Christen and I guess you are Zara,” she gives me a handshake and I smile. Nickoi tell har bout me. I see.
After a while of talking with her, she gives me my breakfast. She made Ackee and salt fish with fried plantains and fried dumplings. Smells so good!
“Thank you,” I smile and she nods. Nickoi joins us not long after and he’s dressed in a matching blue polo suit with just socks.
Sexy as always, my subconscious says.
I smile at him and she gives him his food. “Thanks,” he says looking at me. “You done already mon,” he says and I laugh.
As he eats his food my mind runs on all the gifts that he bought for me especially the Benz. “Mi still cya believe you buy mi a Benz Nickoi, mi feel like it too much,” I smile. He shakes his head.
“Mi nuh think nutt’n too much fi yuh all if mi haffi give you the world, mi a dweet,” he tells me and I blush.
My cheeks heats up. “Yuh always say the sweetest things enuh..”
“Awww... mi know this nuh have a thing fi do with me but a years mi around you and never hear yuh talk to a girl like this. Happy for you both,” Christen chimes in. We look at her and smile.
“Respect man,” a smirk playing on his lips. As she saunters away, he says, “A mi aunty enuh.” What?
“And yuh act so formal?” I ask, stunned.
“She always act so when she a work, a fi har thing that,” he says before he starts eating again.
I scroll through my Instagram killing time and I notice that I have 10k followers now. A cas Nickoi post yuh enuh .
As I scroll through my messages, I see a couple of fake pages cursing me. What the hell? I ignore them and look at Nickoi as he puts down his plate, pulls the fridge, and returns with his Desert Clarks.
“Weh yuh just tek deh Clarks deh from and weh wi a guh?”
“Yuh soon see,” he ignores the first half of my question. I shake my head, freshen my mouth and trail him.
As we drive out I can’t help it but think that he’s bringing us to a villa since he puts two luggage in the back of the car. He’s driving a black Range Rover today and I decide to comment on it after a while of him driving.
“What’s with the change of car?” I ask and he shrugs, and says, “Less attention.”
“Mi anxious fi know weh wi a go,” I laugh, he hands me a blindfold.
“Put it on,” he instructs and I put it on. I can’t see anything so I try to listen in order to get an idea of where we are but fail miserably. All mi a hear is people chatting. He parks the car and helps me out. “We reach.”
“Tek off the blindfold?” I ask and he chuckles.
“Not yet” I groan walking along side him.
He finally stops. My heart starts beating really fast. It feels as if I’m bout to pass out. Mi nuh know wah fi expect at this point.
He removes the blindfold and I keep my eyes screwed shut. “Mi nuh badda waah see.”
“Open yuh eyes now nuh mami.”
I slowly open my eyes, peeking through my birthday fusion set to see that we are standing in front of a private jet. Then, I notice that I’m standing on a Fuschia pink carpet that leads to the steps of the plane. Pink and silver helium balloons cling to the handle of the plane’s door.
A deafening scream escapes my mouth, completely surprised by all this!
I mean, I’ve traveled before but never in style like this!
You a gwaan like Michelle never expose yuh to traveling.
Without thinking twice, I jumped into his arms, planting kisses of gratitude all over his face. “OMG babbbeeeeeeee. Thank youuu!”
“Nickoi where are we goingggg!?” I ask, practically bouncing. He smiles at my antics. His brother and Gutta strolls out of the jet.
“Gi’ dem some space,” Junior announces before they walk away. I stare up at him waiting to hear what he’s going to say.
“So this did come to mi zeen like mi did wah do sup’m different fi you and mi ask you mother where yuh always wah go and she did a tell mi Paris but she neva’ sound sure yuh zi mi, so mi link Gavin and him tell mi Hon—” Can’t be..
I swallow to dispel the lump forming in my throat, “Oh my God,” I choke out, completely at a loss for words.
“Wah mi a say is him tell me Honolulu and mi neva’ know deh so, so mi do some research and come up with an itinerary.”
I’m in shock... I always tell myself that I’d try my best to fulfil this dream when I reach 26 and Nickoi makes this so easy for me. Damn...
“I’m only 22, and this was on my bucket list since I was 16... I thought I’d wait until 26 when I could afford it, and you just made it happen. Thank you, Nickoi,” my voice quivers with emotion.
“Doh cry,” his hands drops to my waist.
“Sorry mi cya help it,” I use the back of my hand to wipe the tears. Awwww.
