“Thank youu,” I’m on the moon. My eyes spot the diamond steering wheel. It’s so sweet how Nickoi knows me so well. I love the details on the steering wheel; it’s so cute. Him know yuh love everything fancy and girly.
I spot a rose gold champagne sitting in the passenger seat, a cute ass watch! I slip it on, smiling as I sit in the driver’s seat, holding the steering wheel. Mi in love with this damn car already.
“I love everything thank you!” I say excitedly with my eyes fixed on his. This man spent a whole lot of money on me and I honestly don’t know how to thank him. “What can I say Nickoi... words are just not enough.” He stays silent with a smile.
The moment I spot the designer bags in the backseat my eyes widens. Then I quickly take up one of the bags and a stack of money falls on my lap, surprising me. I take out the others and they’re all stacked with money.
Oh My God, my subconscious gasps.
Birkins!? Tears prick my eyes as I look at Nickoi and he looks away when he notices that I’m going to cry. I jump on him, wrapping my legs around him as he holds me tight. I dead ass love this man like crazy.
Behind me everyone is cheering; enjoying the view. I don’t know how to show him how grateful I am because I feel like just saying ‘thank you’ isn’t enough. I feel you
A single tear runs out of my eyes and he looks at me with concern. “I’m not sad... I’m just so happy,” I laugh.
He smirks and even though we are publicly doing this we are the only one’s sharing this moment. I can hear the crowd cooing and cheering but my focus is only on Nickoi. Das it dat. Periodt.
“My birthday was never like this especially when I only had Mama. She would buy me a cake and we’d talk all day and I was happy but now this is a different feeling.
.. I can’t explain it. It’s not just the material things, it’s the thoughtfulness behind everything.
You gave me everything that you know I love, some of them I didn’t even tell you directly and you took note by just observing me, so thank you Nickoi, honestly and besides my mom and Mama you’re the best thing that ever happened to me,” I smile sweetly.
He finally pulls away from the hug. “Me understand baby and you a the best thing weh eva happ’m to me too no joke,” he tells me and I smile.
“And mi know seh material things is not all but mi know you love them thing deh and mi wah yuh comfortable and live yuh ‘soft life’. Them thing deh will make yuh happy too yuh zi mi cas it natural so all of what I’m doing it’s simply to make you happy.
And as mi say, mi feel like it’s my responsibility fi always mek sure yuh happy so get used to being spoiled Mami,” Cho bubblegum.
“Fi say mi love you nuh enough enuh mi think mi hate you at this point,” I joke, wiping my tears and he chuckles.
After a while, the party started. I snap myself, singing along with the songs as Nickoi smokes behind me.
I zoom into him. He looks so good! I still can’t get over it.
“Hey baby!” I shout over the music and he does a gesture with his index like he’s pressing a trigger when he realize that I’m videoing him.
“You want Blue Hawaii?” My aunt asks. I heard about it but I’ve never tried it. “Never try it before,” I admit.
To how that look me could a never reject it.
“Let me try it,” I say and she gives me. “Thanks.”
“So it have Pineapple, Vodka and blue curacao,” Then that nah go too strong?
“This well strong then?” I ask and she nods. “It’s good though,” she smiles.
“Sash drink two already... all mi would a say is nuh drink too much of it,” she chuckles. I nod, sipping it. It tastes so good. Mhmmm Strawberry daiquiri nuh have nothing pan this.
“Mi love this!” I smile, still sipping it. She laughs.
“Yes mi work at the bar at the hotel so mi know fi make them,” She adds. I smile giving her thumbs up, my mouth full.
“Good job,” I finally say, shifting my gaze to Nickoi.
“You want to try it?” She asks him and he shows her his Hennessy.
“That good,” he shakes his head. “Thanks though.” I smile at him and she walks away.
When I’m done drinking the cocktail I walk to the kitchen to get a bottle of water and down it in no time. When I’m going back out, I hear my name causing me to stop.
“Hey Zara,” I turn around and smile at Zanne.
“Girllll yuh look really good,” she compliments. I grab her in a hug.
“How yuh like the cologne set?” She asks as she pulls back. Which cologne set? She notices my expression. “Nickoi doh give you the gift?” she’s disappointed.
“Not yet, I’m sure it’s in the car,” I say, trying to make her feel better and also defend Nickoi.
“Mi beg him do ONE sup’m and him mek it come in like mi nuh send nuh gift... mi nuh like them sup’m deh,” she hiss.
“A man enuh them never do the right thing,” I say and she laughs.
I walk back over to Nickoi after talking with Suzanne.
Nickoi is in his zone; just drinking and smoking.
I’m not gonna ask him about the gift as yet because he probably never remember about it.
Mi a go just wait. I watch him for a while as he drinks his Hennessy.
He looks at me. “Wah some?” I nod slowly.
Why not? He pours it out in a cup and as I drink it, it burns my throat. I choke a little.
Nickoi laughs. “You will get used to it mon,” he adds and I drink the rest. Yuh see how you a drink down the place?
The selector starts playing Moment for life again and everyone starts rocking while some of the females sing along.
“I fly with the stars in the skies!” Gavin sings loudly at the side making me laugh.
“But to live doesn’t mean you’re alive,” I hear my mother singing too.
“Ain’t being cocky, we just vindicated…best believe that when we’re done this moment will be syndicated, I don’t know!” I shrug, vibing to the song before I start dancing, moving my hips. Feel so nice, like mi drunk already...no sah.
“Yes birthday girl!” One of my aunts say and I laugh still rolling my hips to a song that has nothing to do with twerking.
I start seeing camera lights on me and I continue swirling my hip. I push my cup in the air. “P-put yah drinks up, it’s a celebration every time we link up, we done did everything, they can think of... greatness is what we on the brink of... I wish that I could have this moment for life!”
I shout the lyrics as everyone hypes me up. After a while uncle Rohan comes over to me. He tells me that he got here late because he was having some car issues.
“Happy birthday mi niece this a yours enuh,” he gives me ten thousand dollars and I smile.
One thing Uncle Rohan always gi me a money. “Thanks Uncle,” I give him a warm smile and he hands me a cup of D’usse.
“Have fun,” he chuckles before he walks away. Jesus watch dem out fi drunk off Zara!
I take it and smile... I’m kinda liking the whole alcohol thing.
I like how it burns my throat and how it makes me feel.
I sip my D’usse while rocking to Drake’s verse.
As I whine to the song, I brace on Nickoi, feeling ecstatic.
He puts his arm around my waist and I look back, grinding on him.
Yuh come in like you a nuh yuh self enuh. How yah whine to this?
What a thing if yuh guh get drunk and worst like how you a rookie yuh probably drunk already.
I laugh at that thought. “This is my moment, I waited all my life I can tell it’s time,” I sing then Nickoi buries his head in my neck while standing behind me.
I put my hand on my knees, whining and hear people cheering.
I laugh out. The feeling is so good. Yuh hear har?
“Give har a song fi whine to,” a laughing Nickoi says. They put on Shake it to the Max. I twerk, hitting the beat. He hooks my hips, matching my movements, his Hennessy in his grip, one hand pressing in the small of my back. Mommy and my cousins doing the dance.
“Yow Nickoi?” Gutta approaches. “Wah show you a pree,” he says and Nickoi steps back. I pout. Seriously?
“Ah,” he moves from behind me and I watch as he walks out of the yard with his friend. I screw up my face.
“Mi neva’ know yuh could a whine so gyal,” Gavin laughs. I laugh too.
“Weh Sash?” I ask and he says she’s taking a call. I move a little and stumble and he grabs me.
“No mon a wah happ’m to yuh?” he asks. Like she drunk already.
“Nutt’n a mi foot twist,” I say and he looks down.
“You a one a them gyal deh weh wear heels and cya manage?” he laughs and I join him.
“Look so,” I continue to laugh. No why mi a laugh so much? Why mi nuh shut up?
“Yuh fi come cut the cake you and yuh lover so gwaan go call him,” Gavin says. I walk out of the front and he’s sitting on the trunk of his car talking to his friends.
“A nuh none a the man dem talk yuh member the bwoy weh did come pon the ne–” I call Nickoi, interrupting Gutta and they look at me startled. Wah kinda badness them a talk bout? Mi know fi sure a badness.
“Zara wah you come out here for?” Nickoi asks, jumping off the trunk. His friends are looking down. Like when a Pitney get ketch. Wah dem up to?
“Umm... we should cut the cake,” I speak slowly. He looks at his friends telling them that him soon ‘fawud’ before he walks away with me. He seems off.
As we walk inside I come to a halt. “Nickoi which man talk sup’m?” Lef it alone! Nuh tell me nutt’n. Watch ya?
Second time mi a hear Gutta wid sup’m like this.
“Weh yah talk bou?” he asks. Hear the liyad!
Zara calm down nuh. “Oh so you go lie?” I look up at him since he’s much taller than I am and he’s standing close to me.
“Lie bou wah?” he asks. Watch him a act like him nuh know wah mi a talk bout.
“Mi think you did pass this lying phase,” I hiss. Zara stop... cause yuh nuh sure wah dem did a talk bout, plus unuh in a public! Mi think a mi a did the crazy one now we switch roles.
I shake my legs narrowing my eyes at him. He grabs me. “Just calm down cause yuh nuh hear wah Gutta say good.”
