Nickoi

After dropping off Zara and her grandmother I drove to the underground where Gutta had Carlos. I blink twice because my eyes are heavy. Comin like yuh nuh sleep fi years mi G.

I have. It just wasn’t enough.

“Carlos,” I say, circling him slowly and his eyes open. He tries to say something but it’s muffled because of the tape. Wah him could a wah say to me? Betta him shut up.

“Nickoi what are you gonna do to us?” Talia asks. I give her a sinister smile. “You would never hurt me,” she says. Eeeeh?

“I will, just not physically,” I chuckle to myself before I take a seat in front them. She continues to move her body, rocking herself from side to side.

“Mi have a plan fi you mon nuh worry yuhself,” I say with my eyes on Talia. Her eyebrows lower.

“Papi I told you I am sorry and I was just angry. I-I’ll do anything for you, just d-don’t hurt me please,” she begs.

I look at her father, drowning out her tantrum.

“How are you gonna hurt me? N-Nick you said you’d never hurt me.

I love you, I really really do, so I know you won’t hurt me because I know you do too!

Just don’t hurt me or my dadd–” I stop her.

Not a soul cya stop mi from kill Carlos. She could a beg til thy kingdom come.

He glares at me and I grab the edge of the tape, dragging it off mercilessly and he yelps. “Ow!” he yells and I spot Gutta smiling at him.

“Yuh sound like a sissy,” Keno chuckles but Carlos continues to glare at me.

“A me yuh hate, why yuh never just come fi me?” I ask him as I take out my phone. “Eeeh?” I press.

I pull it quickly and scroll through my gallery for a picture of Aden—Rick’s son before I show him. He looks at it but he stays quiet.

“Yuh see wen yuh sen yuh hit man dem after we, dem kill him mother and she neva have nothing fi do with none a the shit weh mi and you have going on. Mi lose my OG same way at a tender age, just a little older than Aden and that live with me. Even now, so yuh can just imagine losing yuh madda..” I pause.

My temper is boiling. I breathe and continue.

“Mi know seh nothing weh mi about fi do cya guh bring har back but mi a mek sure seh yuh feel back wi pain,” I tell him, venom laced through every word that comes out of my mouth.

Him dead already and d’evu know. I look at Talia and she’s sobbing. “Same fi you too, yah go feel back wi pain cause mi know a you start this up because a the breakup—” She interrupts me.

“But...”

“Yuh nuh see the man a talk?” Juaqína asks with an attitude. She rolls her eyes at her before she looks back at me. Juaqína glares at her. “Nickoi mi know seh yuh nuh lick woman, but wen yuh done just mek sure mi tek care a har,” Juaqína’s smile sinister.

“What!” Carlos finally says.

Mi know seh Talia a him weakness mon. “Just like how yuh kill the man ooman a same suh you a go watch wi kill yuh daughter,” Juaqína teases.

He looks at me. “You can’t do that to my d-daughter-” I put on a gloves slowly, my glare icy. “We’ll be okay Mija,” he whispers.Eeeeh?

Once the gloves are on, I take up the gun. They start crying. Gutta and the others start laughing. “Don d’evu start and you a bawl already? Save eh tears fi later,” he jokes.

“N-Nickoi p-please don’t shoot my dad!” Talia begs. I look at her for a while.

“Yuh know seh mi nah kill him,” I say and her face lightens up then I surprise her with what I say next. “A you a guh kill him.” She looks at me crazy, my gaze narrows.

“You can’t be–”

“Eeeh? Mi dead serious,” I tell her. She leans her head with the most pleading eyes I’ve ever seen.

“Please..” Nah work.

“You a miss trigga happy cas yuh did pull the trigga and shoot after Zara,” I say angrily. I signal Gutta and Keno and they walk over, pointing their guns at her.

She starts crying. “I’m sorry.” Doh wah hear it.

“If you ever–” Carlos starts and I glare at him, handing the gun to her. She takes it hesitantly.

“Doh try anything stupid else yuh dead,” I warn her because I have men pointing guns at her from upstairs along with Keno and Gutta who are directly behind her.

I step back incase she tries to pull a crazy stunt and spot Zara calling. I decline and quickly send her a message that I’m at my mom and I’ll link her soon. Talia points the gun at her dad, trembling.

It’s been ten minutes since we’ve been waiting for her to pull the trigger and they’ve spent it saying I love you’s and ‘don’t do it mija’. At this point I’m getting impatient and it’s not only me—the whole gang is. I can hear everyone mumbling, especially Keno. I sigh.

“Mi a start count,” I say and she starts trembling even more.

“I-I can’t do this,” she cries.

“Or mi shoot yuh,” The gun clicks and I put it at her temple. Carlos’ eyes widens as he begs.

“Please Nickoi... kill me but don’t hurt mija like this,” he begs. I will kill you.

“Five!” I shout, my voice shakes the room. Shit! Dem should a never mess wid yuh.

Talia looks at me. “Please..”

“Four!” I shout again and she position herself.

“Three!” She jumps. Her father closes his eyes and a single tear falls out.

“I’m sorry–” she whispers.

“Two!” I push the gun closer to her head.

“Mija-” she pulls the trigger and the gun clicks, startling her. She looks at me surprised and I laugh.

Gutta and the others erupt into a laughing fit.

The funny part about this is that it was the part of the plan that only I know.

The gun isn’t loaded because I know Talia and how crazy she is and the plan was to scare them and remind them that this shit was serious and I wasn’t playing.

In fact, I’m not playing. I’ve been telling them to make sure they don’t kill him but I didn’t tell them the real reason why I wanted him alive.

I didn’t tell them that I wanted to kill him myself. They’re disoriented. Nice.

“What’s next Don?” Gutta asks me.

“Keep them tied up and keep an eye on them,” I instruct.

“Are you gonna do t-this again?” Talia asks.

I stare at her for a while. “This was just the starting mon unuh a go sorry unuh mess round me.”

I look at Gutta. “Call mi if a anything.”

“Ah mi killa.” I walk away and shot them one last look before I slam the door behind me. Prank them tonight but tomorrow a dirt .
