Az cut him off with a growl that reverberated against my chest, the sound so feral and cruel that I couldn’t help the silent gasp my lips attempted to form. But there was no air left for me to breathe.

“Fuck.” The word vibrated my tongue as Az captured my mouth with his in a punishing kiss, his oxygen becoming mine as he loosened his grip on my throat. I inhaled sharply, my lungs demanding the very essence it needed to survive.

But all I could take in was Az.

His air.

His taste.

His addictive cologne.

I moaned, the sensation of being revived making my limbs tingle with rejuvenated energy. I’d been drowning,dying, punished by his dangerous palm, and now he was rewarding me for surviving.

This is so messed up,I thought. Yet I couldn’t stop myself from kissing him back, my tongue dueling with his in a renewed crusade led by our souls.

His palms went to my hips, holding me against him, forcing me to feel his arousal through our clothes. I wrapped my arms around his neck, my nails biting into his shoulders in response, my need to draw his blood an overwhelming craving inside my mind.

He didn’t stop. If anything, he pushed me to do it, to mark him, toclawhim.

Fuck, this is insane.I could barely think, my senses lost to this monstrous male holding me against the wall, devouring me to my very spirit.

I gasped again, my throat raw from his roughness, my lungs still demandingmore.

More scent.

But my world spun before I had a chance to indulge in the oxygen I craved, his palm once again at my throat as he branded my lower belly with his arm.

A strangled sound left my mouth as he yanked me backward into his muscular body, his chest to my back, his lips at my ear. “Ajax needs to heal,” he said, his voice silky and dark and barely edged with violence. “You’re going to help him heal.”

My chest heaved with exertion, my mind spinning as I tried to decipher what was happening and how we’d ended up here.

I’m supposed to be mad.

Ajax was still naked, his body still covered in blood from his fight with Az, the snakes that had bitten him, and whatever else he’d been doing.
