Page 104 of Hell Fae Warden
He wanted me to take this task of guarding her seriously, not use it as an excuse to fuck her.
I gritted my teeth as she shifted again, more of her sensual aroma infiltrating my senses.
This was the ultimate trial in self-restraint. That image of her tied up in ropes flashed through my head, followed by her kissing Melek.
He did this to torture me,I decided. He wants me to lose whatever game this is. But why?
Melek had to know what Lucifer was up to, that this was all some elaborate way to determine my worthiness. Lucifer strove for control in everything he did. There were no coincidences or frivolous tasks. He did everything with purpose.
Including reassigning me to Camillia as her personal Warden.
I’d said as much to Az earlier after he’d asked why I wasn’t playing with Camillia.
“Why the fuck would you sleep on the couch?” he’d asked after I’d mentioned my sore back. “That bed is more than big enough for the two of you, something I know you’re aware of since we’ve shared it together before.”
“I gave her the bedroom so she can have her privacy.”
That had made his eyebrow arch upward. “Privacy? After everything we’ve done? Surely she’s fine being naked with you now.”
“I would really rather not know,” I’d gritted out, wincing as Az had taken me down to the mat again. “She’s tempting enough while clothed. I don’t need her naked, too.” My words had come out a little winded, thanks to the impact of Az’s tackle.
He’d frozen above me. “Wait… you’re not fucking her?”
“No.” I’d taken advantage of his startled state and shoved him off me with a blast of magic.
Rather than counter or try to hit me back, he’d gaped at me. “Why the fuck not?”
“Because Lucifer is testing me and I refuse to fail.”
Az had snorted. “That’s a bullshit reason. Typhos wouldn’t put you in a room with one bed if he didn’t expect you to fuck her. Yeah, he might pretend to be mad. But he’s a sadist. He just enjoys having a reason to punish those who are under his wing.”
“But am I really ‘under his wing’?” I’d countered. “I’m not a Hell Fae. Not really, anyway.”
My power affiliation might have been realigned by Zakkai to secure my Midnight Fae abilities to the Hell Fae Source, but I was still considered an outsider here.
Az had responded with another tackle, this time pinning me to the ground as he straddled my hips.
“Stop second-guessing your place in this world. Stop ignoring your instincts. And stop using Typhos as a reason not to fuck Camillia. Your true fear is in your urge to bite her. Admit that, overcome it, and give her what you both need.”
I’d growled in response, denying his accusation by throwing a fist at his face.
And then he’d handed me my ass in typical Az fashion.
But the beating had been a welcome distraction from the ache in my groin.
An ache that had reignited with a fury the moment I’d found Melek holding Camillia.
Now that ache was threatening my sanity as I inhaled deeply, taking in Camillia’s flavor through my mouth.
She was wet. I could feel it against my cheek.
Needy.
Wanting.
Practically begging for my touch.
She still hadn’t made an effort to move, almost as though she was paralyzed around me.
