Page 151 of Hell Fae Warden
My mind raced as I grabbed the talisman still on my chest. Melek’s power mingled with the heat of the chains, providing me with a calming balance that allowed me to focus.
Warmth, not uncontrollable fire. That was what had eventually stopped the burning of the Everglades. It’d taken me hours to figure it out. But it’d finally worked.
Would it work here? There’s only one way to find out.
“Cami?” Ajax asked again.
I ignored him, too busy recalling the spell I’d used that day.
If I really am a conduit, then I should be able to channel Lucifer’s power to help boost this enchantment,I thought, closing my eyes and focusing on the sensations of his energy rippling through me. I called upon that warm power deep within my chest, my lips whispering the words I’d learned long ago.
Wind wound around me as I tugged on the magic encircling me, latching onto that tether I somehow seemed to have anchored deep within my soul.
A darkened strand.
Eternal energy.
Lucifer.
This was a place I didn’t understand, a place I didn’t want to go. But I had to try.
I continued reciting the spell from those wispy white pages, my mind a mixture of the present and the past as flickers of flames danced behind my closed eyes.
So much power.
So much grace.
A calming wave of warmth swirled inside me, waiting to be unleashed. But I needed more. I needed access.
“Camillia,” a deep voice whispered into my mind. One I hated. One I desired. One Ineeded.
“Lucifer,” I responded.Let me in…
The magic of his chains intimately wound around me, but I would use it instead of letting it use me.
Let me in,I repeated.
His power was too wild. Too intense.
I said the spell again, bolstering my warm wave while also whispering,Let me in.
So much vitality. Brightness.Core strength.
Let me in, Lucifer. Set me free…
Something inside me flared to life, a natural instinct, an inclination totame. It tugged on Lucifer’s rein of power, begging him to give me control, just for a moment.
Whether or not my father had somehow prepared me for this, I intuitively knew what to do.
The Marsh Lands was a place of mirages, subtlety, and delicate touches.
The opposite of what I’d seen of Lucifer.
Let me help,I begged him.I can do this.
I wasn’t sure if he could hear me, but I hoped he could feel my intentions.
Or maybe the source would heed my call.
