CHAPTER FOURTEEN

MILES

M iles never thought that he would find the love of his life, but laying here with Olivia in his arms he knew that he had found the one that he was supposed to spend the rest of his life with.

They laid there for a few hours before he knew that he needed to get her up and dressed before their company showed up.

“Come on, Little Bunny, let’s go find you something fun to wear for a night in Littlespace with your best friend.”

“I don’t have anything here besides the clothes I brought for this weekend, but that’s okay. I can wear my clothes from earlier.”

“Daddy’s got another surprise for you. Come on, up you go.”

He slid out of the bed, pulling her up into his arms. Turning, he carried her across the hallway to her nursery.

Laying her down on the changing table, he pulled the safety strap across her abdomen before walking over to the closet and opening it up .

He heard a tiny gasp from behind him and smiled to himself. Miles might have spent more than he originally planned when he was shopping for clothes online for Olivia.

Not that he could have stopped himself if he tried. Just when he thought that he was done shopping something else would catch his eye and he knew that she needed that as well.

Pulling out a light purple tutu with a matching onesie that had flowers on it, Miles turned and walked back over to where Olivia lay with tears in her eyes.

“Oh, baby. Why are we crying?”

“Are those all for me?”

“Well, who else would they be for, silly girl? Daddy knew you needed Little clothes, so I bought them.”

“No one has ever done something so nice for me.”

“Get used to it, babygirl. Daddy plans on spoiling you as often as I can.”

Bending down he pulled out a pair of white frilly socks before pausing for a moment. When she was here last, Miles allowed her to just play and explore since they hadn’t played together before and he wasn’t sure where her Little might be.

Today was a little different. After watching her that last time, Miles was fairly certain with a little encouragement she would slip even farther into Littlespace.

“I’m going to ask you something, babygirl, and I want you to be totally honest with me about it, okay? There isn’t any right or wrong answer here.”

“Okay, Daddy.”

“Would you like to try wearing a pullup tonight while playing with Rae?”

He waited to give her some time to think. Miles knew that Rae usually was wearing a pullup when not at work, so the chances that Liv had seen them before was pretty high .

“I’ve never thought about it before. I know that Raelyn wears them, but never thought about doing it myself.”

“Okay, well what is your mind telling you right now?”

“It’s telling me that I should give it a try. If I don’t like it, can we take it off and put my panties back on?”

“Of course, Little Bunny. I would never force you to stay in something that would make you uncomfortable. I think you might find that you like it.”

“Then yes, I would like to try that tonight.”

Miles bent down and pressed a kiss against her lips before turning to pull a pullup out of the drawers under the changing table and started pulling it up her legs.

“WAIT!!”

“What, Little girl?”

“I don’t have to actually use it, do I?”

“No, baby. If you feel comfortable and want to try it Daddy is okay with that, but you don’t have to use it.”

He smiled at the whoosh of air she let out. Miles continued to get her dressed while they talked about all the things she wanted to do with Rae when they got here.

Miles left Olivia in the nursery to play while he went to get her sippy cup to refill.

A little while later, he heard a swarm of foot stomps racing down the hallways when the doorbell rang.

Turning towards Liv, he raised an eyebrow at her actions. She knew better than to run in the house. It wasn’t safe, especially with nothing on her feet but slippery socks.

“Do we run in the house?”

“No, Daddy. I’m sorry, I won’t do it again.”

Miles doubted that was true. He had a feeling he was going to constantly be reminding her about her health and safety, but he looked forward to it .

He opened the door and was tackled backwards before he had a chance to brace himself.

“HI, UNCLE M!”

“Raelyn Jane!”

“What, Daddy? I’m excited to see Uncle M and Livvy.”

“I understand that you are excited, but what did we just talk about in the truck before we got out?”

“That I needed to be a good girl or there would be consequences.”

“And was tackling Uncle M, and almost making him fall, a green choice?”

“No, Sir. I’m sorry.”

“I’m not the one you need to apologize to, Little Duckling.”

Raelyn turned to him, “I’m sorry, Uncle M. I didn’t mean to make you almost fall.”

“It’s okay, Little minx. No harm done.”

He stepped aside letting her pass before slapping Emmett on the back.

“Good to have y'all here man. Olivia has been talking about all they are going to do for the past hour.”

“I haven’t been able to get Raelyn to stop talking about tonight since I told her what the plan was. She is so excited to play with her bestie in Littlespace.”

The guys turned and watched as their Little girls took off down the hallway.

“NO RUNNING IN THE HOUSE!” They both yelled out before laughing.

Walking into the kitchen to make the girls sippy cups and a snack, the men talked about the upcoming work week and the meeting that they had scheduled.

“Enough work talk. How have things been going between you and Olivia? ”

Miles couldn’t help the smile crossing his face thinking about his Little girl playing in the other room.

“It’s been good man. Real good.”

“I’m so glad to hear that. I never had a thought that you two wouldn’t be perfect together. I always felt like she needed a Daddy who was like you.”

“I still can’t get over this feeling that she’s hiding something from me, but I can’t seem to put my finger on what it could be.”

“I don’t know man. Rae hasn’t said that Olivia has been off or anything. Maybe it’s just your mind playing tricks. Don’t borrow trouble, just enjoy the time you have with her now.”

“You’re right man. Now, let’s go find our Little girls. It’s gotten real quiet back there.”

Chuckling, they took off towards the nursery on the hunt for their troublemakers.

Saying goodbye to Emmett and Raelyn for the night, Miles went and collected his Little girl from the nursery.

She played hard with Rae and just like he had hoped, Olivia was able to slip a little bit younger than she had the previous time.

It was a joy to see it happen and he couldn’t wait to see what else she would do.

“It’s time to get ready for bed, Little Bunny.”

“Daddy, can I have five more minutes? The fashion show is about to start.”

Miles looked at the toys she had around her. Olivia had made a makeshift stage and set up all her stuffies around the runway. At the top her dolls were standing dressed in evening gowns .

“Okay, babygirl. You have until Daddy is done getting your bath ready and then it’s time to clean up and get ready for bed. Understood?”

“Yes, Sir, I understand.”

He leaned down and pressed a quick kiss on her lips before turning and heading into the ensuite to start running her a bath.

When he walked back into her room once again she looked like she had seen a ghost. Miles was getting tired of seeing that look on her face without an explanation as to why it was there.

“You okay Liv?”

She looked up at him and graced him with the prettiest smile.

“Yes sir, I’m okay. Is my bath ready?”

“It is, babygirl. The next important question is do you want to take a bath alone or do you think it will be okay for Daddy to help you?”

Her response was immediate. “I want you to help me, Daddy.”

Holding out his hand for hers, he pulled her up and led her to the other room.

Turning her around, Miles pulled her socks and tutu off before reaching down to unfasten her onesie.

He hadn’t put a bra on her when he got her dressed this afternoon, so she now stood in front of him in nothing but her pullup.

She was just as much of a vision now as she was in her scrubs or his t-shirt.

Miles couldn’t help but love to see her in his shirt more, but this would be a close second.

She looked so carefree and that made his heart happy. He pulled off her pullup and helped her step into the warm bathwater.

Reaching under the counter Miles pulled out a basket of bath toys before dumping them into the water with her.

Smiling at her squeal he pressed a kiss onto the top of her head before settling against the sink, Miles enjoyed watching her play with the toys.

About ten minutes later, he pulled out the wash cloth and squirted on some strawberry baby wash before beginning to wash her. He waited for her to show any signs of distress, but none came.

Miles did quickly learn that she wasn’t a fan of having her hair washed, but she only grumbled for a second before straightening up at the eyebrow raise he gave her.

Making quick work of rinsing her off, he pulled the plug from the drain before helping her out of the tub and wrapping her up in a fluffy pink towel.

Picking her up bridal style, Miles flipped off the light and headed across the hallway to his room.

He had already decided that from now on when she was there she would only be sleeping in his shirts.

If the smile that she gave him was anything to go by, it seemed like she didn’t have a problem with that either.

Pulling the covers back and helping her lay down, he pressed what should have been a quick kiss against her lips.

Groaning, Miles pulled away and winked at her before heading out to make sure the house was locked up. By the time he got back to his Little girl, she had long fallen asleep.

He got undressed, crawled into bed, and pulled her close. Not long after, falling asleep himself. It was the best way to end the night.

It was Wednesday now and Miles couldn’t figure out what was going on with Olivia. Ever since this weekend she was acting standoffish and he didn’t like it one bit.

Pulling out his phone he shot her another text.

Miles: Hey, Little Bunny! Daddy misses you and is just checking in.

Over forty minutes had passed before she texted him back. It was odd because he knew she wasn’t at work today and while she could have been busy, Miles knew that the only thing that she ever did on her midweek day off was a house reset and catching up on her books.

Olivia was anything if not predictable about her habits. He loved that about her, but it still didn’t help that she was acting strange now.

Olivia: Hey Miles. Miss you, too. I’m fine, just busy is all.

Miles definitely didn’t like being called Miles again. He was Daddy and that wasn’t going to change.

Miles: Do you call Daddy by his name?

Olivia: I do what I want.

Where was this attitude coming from? Texting wasn’t going to fix this and he needed to see her face for what he needed to say.

Hitting the facetime button, Miles waited for it to ring before the screen filled with her beautiful face.

“You do what you want, Little Bunny? Do you maybe want to change how you speak to Daddy?”

“Whatever Miles. I’m a grown adult and do what I want. ”

“Olivia Mae Carter! I will tolerate a lot of sass from you, but blatant disrespect will not be allowed at all.”

He watched her roll her eyes and his palm began to twitch. She was racking up a serious punishment that her bottom wasn’t going to like.

“What is going on, Little girl? You have never acted like this before. I promise you can tell me anything.”

“I just don’t think I can do this any more.”

“Do what?”

His heart began to race as he watched her find the right words to say. It felt like his whole world crumbled at the next mutter of words.

“Us. I can’t do us any more. I thought I could be the Little girl you wanted, but it was all pretend. I was lying.”

Miles knew that she wasn’t pretending and she was lying to herself if she thought that he would believe that.

“You don’t mean that, Liv.”

“Yes I do. I don’t want to be your Little girl any longer.”

“Tell me Olivia. What exactly do you mean?”

“I mean it’s over. I’m breaking up with you.”

Miles didn’t understand where this was coming from. They had an amazing weekend and enjoyed their time together. He loved being able to play with her in Littlespace and knew that she had fun, too.

“I’m not letting you go, Olivia. We are going to work through this. You are meant to be mine.”

“No. I’ve made up my mind. It’s over Miles.”

“Olivia. Tell me what is going on. I want to…”

His words were cut off by the smallest whisper.

“Red.”

A pit of dread settled in his stomach. His mind raced with how he was going to fix this. There had to be a way to make whatever happened right.

“Okay, I hear you, Olivia. I’m listening.”

“I don’t want you anymore. I’m done.”

“Okay.”

Any further conversation was cut when she hung up the phone. This was far from over. He wasn’t going to let her get away, not when he just found her.

Formulating a plan, Miles quickly pulled out his phone. He was going to get answers and he was going to get them soon.

Miles: Hey man. I need to take off. I’ll explain everything tonight.

Emmett: Yeah no worries. Everything okay?

Miles: No, but it will be.

With that settled, Miles grabbed his keys and headed out of the office.
