Story: Beware the Rosemond Ripper
The Rosemond Gazette
April 5th, 2005
Yesterday a jogger made a horrific discovery of the body of a young woman off the bypass near the B919 not far from a residential area. Sebastian Fowler, 28 years old, was out for his usual morning run when he made the awful discovery. Fowler, an optician, was shocked to uncover the body which he nearly tripped over. Almost injuring himself on the body which had been roughly concealed by the overgrown bushes.
This area has been reported to the local council repeatedly for how unkempt it is. Now that a body has been discovered having been hidden in the vast undergrowth, we are hopeful that the council will arrange for the area to be tidied up and maintained so this cannot happen again.
The body was that of 24-year-old Stacey McIntyre, lifelong Rosemond resident and bartender at local club; Nyght. McIntyre had in fact finished up a meeting with her employer and was believed to be heading home but never made it. When McIntyre did not arrive, her parents believed that she was simply staying over with her on and off again boyfriend, Marcus Steele, 26 years old, also of Rosemond.
The relationship between Steele and McIntyre was said by friends and family to be volatile. Police had been called to the McIntyre home address previously, when Mr & Mrs McIntyre had called authorities after Steele had turned up unannounced and threatened their daughter in front of them. No charges were brought at the time due to it being believed to only be a drunken mistake by Steele.
The body of McIntyre was found stripped naked and abandoned face down in the dirt, left to the elements. There was heavy rain the day of the murder which destroyed a lot of potential forensic evidence. Police believe that Steele had harmed McIntyre after an argument. Then proceeded to strip her and dump her body to conceal evidence of what he had done.
Residents around McIntyres workplace, Nyght, were able to tell police that a red car was spotted which matched the description of Steele’s own car. McIntyre was seen getting into the car and driving off around the time her employer, Mr Benjamin Stevenson, told police that McIntyre had left his establishment. Cameras in the club were able to confirm her leaving at roughly 6pm on Sunday evening.
That is the last that was seen of the 24-year-old.
Steele has since been arrested and charged with the murder of Stacey McIntyre. He appeared at Rosemond Sheriff Court this morning, pleading not guilty. Police are confident that they have enough evidence from witnesses, including testimony of Mcintyre's family of the relationship between the two to gain a conviction of guilty when tried at court, date to be confirmed.
