That was when I saw Elijah on one knee, holding up a little velvet box with a ring full of diamonds in it.
I let out the loudest gasp I’d ever made in my life. The rest of the room exploded into squeals, applause, and cheers. Sarah was jumping up and down, and Leo was pumping his fist in the air and shouting whoops. It was so loud that Elijah could only see me mouthing the answer that he’d asked for.
My heart pounding, with the applause filling my ears, I ran to my very clever and sneaky billionaire, who got up, threw his arms around me, and kissed me, swinging me off my feet in a spin. He slid that ring of platinum with all those diamonds on my finger.
Amid the happy hubbub in the room, I let Elijah hold me close and I said to him, “At our wedding, Ben and Leanna, mark my words.”
“I don’t doubt it.” He gave me a peck of a kiss on the lips and another on the nose and said, “Having you is better than having a billion dollars. I love you.”
“And, I love you,” I said back.
My billionaire boss and I, and all the people we loved, had no more troubles from them on.
