Story: Reluctantly Rogue

Then I stand and pull Linnea to her feet.
“Thank you,” she says quietly to him.
“Take care of him,” Torin tells her.
“I promise.”
I feel possessiveness and love and desire like I’ve never known hit me.
I need to get her alone.
It was a long flight.
I start to escort my woman out of her now ex-fiancé‘s office, mentally reviewing how we can spend the night together without anyone knowing. It helps that our rooms are right next to one another.
“But can I give you a little advice?” Torin calls out.
I look back. “What’s that?”
“You need to not look at her like you just did for a bit longer.”
“Oh?” I ask.
He laughs. “It is very obvious how you feel about her now. Everyone’s going to know if you’re not careful.”
I look down at Linnea. She’s looking up at me with heat and happiness. I want to see that look on her face for the rest of her life.
Not looking at her as if I’m madly in love with her is going to be the hardest thing I’ve ever done.

I eye my coffee cup. Then I look at the clock. It’s a little early to add amaretto but…
FYI, with this job it’s never too early for liquor.
I pour in a shot, take a drink, then read his message again.
He fell in love with Linnea.
Of course he did.
It’s not just the royals going rogue now. Perfect. Just what I need.
But why wouldn’t he?
Linnea is amazing.
