Story: Cat Sloan is Swirling
Cat’s smile grew and Elena was tempted to lean over the table and kiss her.
At that moment their server walked up and they gave her their order.
The conversation went from music to movies and TV shows. Sometimes when they spent an evening at Cat’s they would watch TV together and Elena had thought about putting a TV in the sapphic study. Cat was passionately opposed to this idea and assured Elena they had plenty to entertain themselves with without a TV. Cat was right.
Once they were back at Elena’s and in their spots on the loveseat, Cat said, “What did you think?”
“I loved Betty’s and think we should do that more often.”
“I do, too. I had a great time tonight.”
Elena gazed at Cat and couldn’t keep from going back to their earlier conversation. “Do you really think you’re not a confident woman?”
Cat sighed. “I did, but I don’t anymore. After the way you explained it to me tonight… Hell yeah, I am confident in my business abilities.”
“You can be confident in your heart too,” Elena said. “I’ve watched you become lighter and brighter every day.”
Cat smiled. “You have helped me find my confidence again, El. I guess seeing myself through your eyes and knowing you believe in me makes me believe in myself.”
Elena smiled and felt her heart soar with happiness. Now, if she could just convince Cat to see her as more than a friend.
“Isn’t there something you want to ask me?” Cat said.
Elena furrowed her brow and pressed her lips into a line. “Ask you?”
Cat grinned. “You haven’t asked me what color I’m wearing.”
“Oh!” Realization spread through Elena. Their little game of what color lingerie Cat was wearing was fun, but now that Elena had embraced her feelings for Cat she was afraid it would be harder and harder to keep those feelings under control if they continued the game.
“Do you want to guess?”
Elena studied Cat for a moment and chased away the desire to lean over and kiss her. Maybe someday. “I think today you’re wearing that deep blue bra for the Monday blues.”
“Nope.” Cat shook her head. “Mondays aren’t all bad. I got to see you and I didn’t yesterday.”
Elena chuckled to herself. Maybe one day after spending the weekend with me, she might change her mind about Mondays.
“What are you thinking? I can see an evil little twinkle in your eye,” Cat said.
“Evil? Me?” Elena said innocently. “Are you going to show me?”
Cat leaned in closer and pulled the v-neck of her dress away from her chest. “I wore the red one today because it’s your favorite.”
Elena glanced down at the silky red fabric covering Cat’s breasts and had to sit on her hands to keep from touching her. She looked back up into Cat’s eyes and smiled. “You’re beautiful,” she whispered.
On her way home, Cat thought back over the evening. Elena seemed to have a good time at Betty’s and Cat did too. But right before she’d left to come home, they were playing the lingerie game and the way Elena had whispered to Cat sent shivers through her.
Elena was a beautiful woman and Cat never hesitated to tell her. In turn Elena had told her more than once that she was beautiful as well. But there was something different in her voice tonight. Cat couldn’t be sure because as much as she wanted to trust her heart she still had doubts. She knew Elena wanted to explore her feelings for women. They spent a lot of time together, so it wouldn’t be a surprise they’d developed feelings for each other.
But were these feelings progressing past that of a friend? That’s where Cat’s doubts came in. Maybe she simply needed to ask Elena. That could be risky and could make things awkward between them.
She sighed and let the thoughts swirl through her head as she pulled into her driveway.
A flash of light in her rearview mirror caught her attention when someone pulled in behind her. She got out of her car and recognized Alexis behind the wheel.
“Hey.” Alexis waved from her rolled down window.
Cat walked up to the car and could see she was alone. “Did CeCe send you to the store for ice cream?”
