Story: Cat Sloan is Swirling
“Hmm.” A smile grew on CeCe’s face. “I can see three on each side as you walk in and then two or three stations in the back to do nails and facials.”
“Okay, so CeCe gets her salon. What kind of store are you going to open, Cory?” Cat asked.
“There’s not a liquor store within ten miles of this area. Look at the storefront at the end. That’s about to become The Liquor Box,” Cory said proudly.
“What!” Cat laughed.
“That’s right,” Cory replied with a laugh. “I’m a lesbian and that’s what we do. We lick?—”
“Stop!” CeCe and Cat yelled in unison.
“We know what you do. You’ve told us over and over,” CeCe said.
“We get it. The Liquor Box,” Cat added.
“I’ve already lined up my first big customer.”
“Who?” CeCe asked.
“You know that sapphic resort at the lake where the Hollywood gays go?”
“Yeah, Krista Kyle owns it with Julia Lansing. I’ve done their hair and they’ve brought several of their clients in over the last couple of years,” CeCe said.
“Didn’t you go out there for a party last summer?” Cat asked.
CeCe wiggled her eyebrows. “I certainly did. Those Hollywood folks know how to have a good time.”
Cory and Cat both chuckled.
“So CeCe opens a salon and you’re opening a liquor store. What do you have in mind for me?” Cat asked.
“Well, little sister. I have an idea, but if you could open any store you wanted, what would it be?”
“Hmm,” Cat murmured as she stared at the building.
“Oh, I know!” CeCe exclaimed. “It has to have something to do with books. You love to read!”
“That’s what I was thinking.” Cory nodded.
Cat glanced at her sisters with a sly smile on her face. “I’d love to open a bookstore, and in the back I’d have an exclusive toy store.”
Cory and CeCe gazed at their little sister with confused looks on their faces.
“A private, clandestine adult toy store,” Cat stated.
“Oh!” CeCe exclaimed as her eyes widened.
Laughter bubbled from Cory as she said, “Oh my God, Cat. That’s perfect!”
The three sisters gazed at the building as ideas flowed through their heads.
“What do you think? Will you join The Liquor Box?” Cory asked.
“I can see it now,” CeCe said, holding her arms out wide. “Salon 411. You’ll not only get the perfect hairstyle, but you’ll know everything that’s going on in town.”
“Oh, I like it,” Cory said. She turned to Cat. “Your turn.”
“Hmm, let’s see. How about Your Next Great Read?”
