Story: Cat Sloan is Swirling
“Right.” Elena nodded.
Cat turned and pulled Elena into a hug. “You are full of great ideas. We’ll arrange some type of adequate payment. I might have something in mind.”
Cat looked into Elena’s eyes then brought their lips together in a sweet kiss that quickly became heated.
“We’re missing the sunset,” Elena whispered against Cat’s lips.
“Mmm,” Cat moaned. “It’s okay, this is better.”
They shared another passionate kiss then turned towards the lake just in time to see the orange orb sink into the shimmering water.
Cat sighed contentedly. She knew what she wanted to do to announce their relationship to her family and friends. It also solved the question of Elena’s form of payment for her work at the bookstore. Cat rested her head on Elena’s shoulder and couldn’t wait to see this particular dream come true.
Cat and Elena spent the rest of the week and the weekend moving Cat’s things into Elena’s house. She had quickly gotten used to the idea of calling it their home. It already felt like Cat had been living there and with some of her things spread throughout the house it really did feel like their home.
Elena had started to invite people to the book club and planned to hold their first meeting soon. Since Tara’s book was chosen to be their first read, she wanted to host the first meeting and invited everyone to the lake.
Cat had been working on her plan to tell her sisters the truth about her and Elena’s relationship and today was the day. She had texted them both and asked them to meet her at her old house. Cat knew they wouldn’t be disturbed there. CeCe and Cory were aware the house was on the market, but didn’t know she’d moved in with Elena. Cat smiled and chuckled. Sometimes it was so easy to keep things from her sisters because they thought she was the quiet one and always took care of herself.
Cat opened the front door and Cory and CeCe walked in.
“Wow,” Cory said. “I knew you’d gotten rid of some stuff for the showings, but it doesn’t look like anyone lives here.”
“Yeah, what did you do with everything?” CeCe asked.
“I’ll tell you about that later. I asked y’all to meet here because I wanted to talk to you about the wedding and I knew no one would bother us here.”
Cory and CeCe sat down on the couch and Cat sat across from them in a chair.
“What about the wedding?” Cory asked.
“Wouldn’t it be fun to have the big wedding Mom won for us? Don’t you think she’d be thrilled?”
“Yeah, but how would we do that?” CeCe said, sounding suspicious.
“Come on,” Cat said. “Tell the truth. You’d both love to have that big elaborate wedding.”
Cory and CeCe looked at each other.
“Well, yeah. You know I’d love it,” CeCe said.
“Me, too, but…” Cory said.
“Let’s do it.”
“How? You and Elena are doing the fake thing,” Cory said. “Who are you going to marry?”
“What if it wasn’t fake?” Cat said, raising her eyebrows.

“What are you talking about?” CeCe asked, narrowing her eyes at Cat.
She couldn’t keep from smiling. “We knew from the first kiss that our feelings were real,” Cat began. “We just didn’t think the other one felt the same way.”
CeCe and Cory gasped. “I knew it!” Cory exclaimed.
Cat laughed. “We’ve been falling in love since the first time Elena walked into the bookstore. We’ve spent a lot of time together and become friends, but there was love growing the entire time.”
