“What did you do?”

“Well… I went online and bought a small vibrator similar to this one,” Cat said, pointing to a palm-sized vibrator.

“It comes in three colors,” Elena quipped.

Cat chuckled. “It does.”

“I guess you’re glad you bought it because you have quite a selection in this room.”

“That little vibrator taught me a lot,” Cat said.

Elena turned and looked at Cat.

“I bought it because sex had become almost non-existent with my girlfriend. I thought it could be a way for us to talk about things and maybe find our passion once again.”

“Did it help?” Elena asked quietly.

Cat shook her head. “She said she didn’t need a toy, all she needed was me.”

“Aww,” Elena said.

“Un-huh,” Cat replied. “That wasn’t exactly true because it didn’t make things better for us and she found someone else to have sex with.”

“Oh, Cat!”

“She didn’t exactly cheat on me, but she broke up with me and moved on rather quickly,” Cat said. “After that, the little purple vibrator and I became friends.” Cat chuckled. “I’ve known all along the one person I can count on in my life is me. Hattie showed me that once again.”

“Can I ask you a question about the vibrator?” Elena said, narrowing her gaze.

“Sure.”

“Did you find out new things about your body that you didn’t know before?”

Cat nodded. “That’s why I wanted this little shop in the back. You’d be surprised what you can learn about yourself and I wanted to create a place where you’d have the opportunity to find out.”

Elena nodded.

“Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying vibrators will change your life, but sometimes you need to try new things. Maybe you’ll discover something you didn’t know.”

Elena smiled. “Dean and I didn’t have the greatest sex life. We were the best of friends and I loved him dearly. I mean, it was fine, but it made me wonder…”

“If the sex these characters have in the books we read is real or just fiction?”

“Yes! Is it fiction?”

Cat shrugged. “I think it’s real. But I also think you have to not be afraid to say what you like. That can be hard. I know it is for me.”

“Maybe the vibrator will help you speak up with your next girlfriend.”

“Oh, no. I’m not planning to do that ever again,” Cat said adamantly.

“I know what you mean, although for different reasons. However, a wise young man told me yesterday that you never know when someone will come along,” Elena said.

Cat smiled and met Elena’s gaze. “Have you seen anything that looks interesting?” she asked Elena, changing the subject.

Elena scoffed. “Interesting is one way to put it.”

Cat waited as Elena walked around the small room looking at the choices. There were small vibrators and larger wand styles as well.
