Story: Cat Sloan is Swirling
“Cat and I are going after she gets off work.”
“I’ll get out of here so you can get ready. Call me if you need a ride home,” he said, walking out the front door.
Elena laughed. “I’m just having a glass of wine with my friend,” she muttered to herself. Then she walked into her bedroom and decided to change clothes. She touched up her makeup and ran her fingers through her hair. Yeah, this new look feels right.
A little later Elena walked back into the bookstore and found Cat at the register waiting for her.
“There she is,” Cat said with a smile.
“Are you ready?”
“Let’s go.”
They walked through CeCe’s salon and then into The Liquor Box. Cory was in the back at the bar when they each slid onto a stool.
“Hey there, welcome,” Cory said. “What can I get you ladies?”
Cat giggled. “How about a glass of wine?”
“That sounds perfect,” Elena said.
“I have a nice white with a crisp bite to it,” Cory said as she poured them each a glass.
They both took a sip and nodded.
“How are things going with that liquor rep you’ve been complaining about?” Cat asked.
“You won’t believe it!” Cory exclaimed. “She’s playing volleyball at my gym.”
“Oh my God. She isn’t on your team, is she?”
“No, but I’ve seen her practice and she’s good.”
“This is going to be fun,” Cat said under her breath.
Elena chuckled and sipped her wine.
“I may need you both to come support me and CeCe when we play her team,” Cory said seriously.
“We can do that,” Elena said. “Let me know when and where.”
“Thanks, Elena. I appreciate it,” Cory said. “I’d better go back up front and see if Randi needs any help.”
“Thanks, sis. See you later,” Cat said as Cory walked away.
“Cory and CeCe play volleyball?”
Cat nodded as she sipped her wine. “Cory is the athlete in the family and CeCe fills in when someone on her team can’t make it.”
“Where do they play?”
“Your Way. It’s a fitness center not far from here. They have a league,” Cat explained.
“I once did yoga there,” Elena commented.
Elena felt Cat’s eyes travel up and down her body. “I can see that,” Cat said.
“Are you checking me out?”
