“Oh my God, that boy!” Elena exclaimed.

“He’s not a boy,” Cat said.

“I know, but he’s always saying this boy, that girl and it’s rubbed off on me,” Elena explained.

Elena closed the door and Cat wrapped her arms around her neck. “As much as I’d like to stay here with you all day”—she wrinkled her nose—“I really need to get to work.”

“Okay.” Elena sighed.

Cat reached up and kissed her softly then deepened the kiss until they were both clinging to each other for air. “Come by this afternoon,” Cat said. “I’ll need another kiss.”

“What if I can’t wait that long?”

“Then stay there with me.”

“People will start to talk,” Elena said with an amused look.

Cat chuckled. “Oh my God, imagine what my sisters are going to say!”

Elena gasped. “I hadn’t thought about that.”

“Let them think this is fake, it’ll be fun to mess with them,” Cat said.

“I want them to like me,” Elena said.

Cat furrowed her brow. “What? They love you!”

“As your best friend. This is different.”

“No, it’s not. They’ll be happy for us just as we’re happy for them.”

Elena leaned down and kissed Cat. “I love you, you know.”

“Hmm, I couldn't tell from all the sex we had last night and the declarations of love in between.”

Elena smirked.

“I love you, too.” Cat kissed Elena again and let her go. “Now, please take me to the bookstore.”

Elena drove Cat to the bookstore and promised to come by later that afternoon. Cat leaned over and kissed her goodbye before she got out of the car. “Love you,” she said.

“Love you, too,” Elena replied.

Cat watched her drive off and walked into the bookstore with a big smile on her face.

“Someone looks happy this morning,” Jessica said.

“It’s a beautiful day,” Cat replied, holding out her arms.

“I guess everything went well last night?” Jessica asked.

“You wouldn’t believe me,” Cat mumbled.

“What?”

“It went great. We have the book signing all figured out, now we just have to get things ready,” Cat said.

“Oh good. This is going to be fun.”
