Page 72 of Wanna Play A Game?
Ihave the water on scalding hot. It feels good against my skin and kills the germs. I still feel like I’m on the edge of coming down with something.
I scrub my skin and think about the look on Sawyer's face after I said we would kill the woman. He looked…scared. Then, when they pulled me into the hallway, they both asked for the same thing.
I’m still floored. I’ve never heard them ask that throughout our entire relationship. And we’ve had plenty of marks over the years. We met at a club in the big city and then from there, were included in a private hunting club off the coast of Japan. Only, we hunted people. The men and I hunted together and instantly fell for each other. After hunting there as a team for years, we got bored with the map and branched out on our own.
I clean under my fingernails again.
We’ve killed many men. And never once felt regret. But for the first time in the hallway, my men asked me not to kill a mark.
Not only that, but instead of fighting, they came together on a decision.
Any other time, it would make me happy. Sawyer has been going off the deep end for months. But they’re coming together over a woman who they brought into our house? A woman who has already caused havoc? She’s dangerous for them. For us. She’ll run the second they drop their guard.
I clean my nails again. I should have been there for them. I should never have left.
She made me leave.
I scrub the scruff on my face. I shouldn’t have fucked them while I felt sick. Whatever was going around the jail was bad. It sent two to the hospital. But they needed it. Sawyer needed it. Fuck, he was falling apart.
I shoot up a prayer to keep them from getting sick, not that I believe in god anymore. I can’t after the things I’ve seen. It’s just a habit that I can’t shake.
A knock on the door startles me, and I stiffen.
Miles comes in and leans against the counter. I had to shower in Sawyer’s room because, for some goddamn reason, everything was gone from my bathroom.
Miles watches me through the glass shower doors, looking me up and down. “Well damn. I was going to say the hunt countdown is on, but…”
Anger makes my mouth stiff as I ask, “What, you want a little dick before you chase that pussy?”
He grimaces. “It’s not like that.”
“No?” I get out of the shower and towel off. “You’re not hitting that?”
Miles watches me dry off. He looks good. Deliciously good. I know how that toned body feels pinned under me. I’m not used to going days without fucking, and I’m ready to go again.
Miles doesn’t answer me.
“I’ll take that as a yes,” I grunt. I have no problem with them fucking women. Hell, we’ve all fucked women together. But bringing one into our home? She’s going to get all of us landed in jail, and money only goes so far when a case gets publicized. I can’t stand to be separated from them again. For what, a little pussy?
A pretty little pussy, but still.
Miles crosses his arms. I throw on my clean clothes. It was hard to find a suit that wasn’t ruined, and that pisses me off more.
“Miles. What do you think you’re doing here? She can’t live. She’s seen us. Knows what we do. You kidnapped her, for Christ’s sake.”
“I know,” he rubs the back of his neck. It looks like he wants to say something but doesn’t.
God, my teeth feel nasty. “Fuck dude, where’s my toothbrush?”
“Probably in the basement.”
The basement? Why thefuckwould it be in the basement? Goddamnn it, fuck this.
I continue to dry off my hair and eye Miles. I hope to god he sees some sense right now. “You know she can’t live, right?”
Miles looks uncomfortable. “There’s a way to keep everyone safe without killing her.”
My stomach sinks. “And what in the ever living fuck could that be?”
