I slip out of his arms just enough to see, and what I do see stops me instantly.

Miles

Cali screams, the sound high-pitched and blood-curdling. She really starts fighting Sawyer. I see him struggle not to hurt her. He drags her, cussing and screaming, upstairs.

“Miles.” Ryder sounds calm, but I know he’s anything but. “Who the fuck is this?”

I glance in disgust at Ben, who’s been bound and gagged the whole time. Ryder’s job was to pinch his nose closed if he made too much noise. A job he took great joy in.

“This is the piece of shit who hit her.”

Ryder stiffens.

“Don’t fucking worry,” I snap at him. “I’m going to kill this one.”
