Page 119 of Wanna Play A Game?
He responds back almost immediately: Basement.
I throw my hands in the air. What the absolute fuck. I march downstairs. Sawyer is down there, the TV on in the background. No knives to be seen.
“Where exactly did you idiots put the knives?”
Sawyer raises an eyebrow at me, then looks back down at his phone. “The sex room.”
I mutter, moving over there, then stop short, looking at the new lock installed on the door. “It’s locked?”
Sawyer huffs. “Yes, how else do you expect us to keep people out of it?”
“Unlock it.” I glare at him.
Sawyer rolls his eyes and does what I ask. I find the knife block sitting on one of the sex benches, of all places. I snatch it, then slam the door.
I glare at Sawyer. “What, you expect your girlfriend to try and kill you? That’s true love right there.”
Sawyer won’t look at me but he smirks slightly. “Youthreaten me with knives, and you call it love.”
Despite myself, I think about that. Fuck. His neck does look so fucking pretty against my knife.
Sawyer drones, “Take your pissy ass back upstairs and pout alone. It’s getting annoying.”
Rage boils up in me so fast that I almost dart toward him to teach him a lesson.
Then he throws me a victorious glance, and I stop. That was exactly the reaction he wanted. He’s trying to rile me up, just like he does to Miles.
I glare at Sawyer, then march up the steps. It feels wrong to be at odds with him. It’s not the first time we’ve fought, but it doesn’t feel right.
But I won’t back down. I’m doing this for him.
I slice my chicken, then immediately wash the knife and cutting board to get rid of the germs.
As I’m cooking, Sawyer comes up and sits at the island. He stays silent, messing with his phone.
I see Miles and Cali walk past the kitchen window, toward the front door. Miles is in his jogging shorts. Cali’s face is red and her hair messy. Miles must have taken her on a run. They’re laughing, shoving each other back and forth like children.
My stomach sinks. Miles is going to be so hurt when she breaks his heart. He falls way too hard and way too fast. I don’t want this to be the thing that breaks him.
Miles and Cali walk inside, still chuckling. Miles gives me a playful, single finger wave as they pass the kitchen, then continues on with his conversation. My eyes drop to both of their asses as they pass, headed to the bedrooms. Miles’ ass looks tight in his shorts. Cali is in a pair of sweats far too large, but I can still see her cheeks bubbling out.
I catch Sawyer smirking at me.
I glare at him. “What?”
“Nothing.” He grabs a tortilla from my pile and starts eating it. “Just looks like you want a piece of that.”
I shoot him a deadly look.
“You know, you could have both.” Sawyer bites a hole out of the middle and looks at me through it. “All of us, actually.”
“No, I can’t.” I go back to prepping the food. “Someone has to be okay when reality hits.”
“Jesus, you’re being so dramatic.” Sawyer glares at me, and it goes directly to my dick.
“Watch your tone.”
“No, actually, I don’t think I will.”
