“My point exactly,” she laughs.

“This isn’t some secret premiere of your movie, is it?” I ask, narrowing my eyes. “Because I thought that it wouldn't be released until next year.”

“No,” she sighs heavily. “Like I’d keep that from you.”

“But you're keeping this from me!”

“Dear god, woman!” Maya groans. “You really are bad at surprises."

“Duh.” I blink at her. “I hate them.”

“Well, I think you're going to love this one.” She smiles proudly. “So stop your questions and just wait. We’re almost there anyway.”

“Fine,” I sigh heavily. “So, how's the book coming? Any new material for me to make some content?”

Her eyes light up. “Yes!” she gushes. “I’ve finally pushed past the writer's block.”

Maya goes into detail about her current book, telling me all the new things she came up with. I love every single thing she tells me, and I’m excited to see how this book comes together.

It helps pass the time, and by the time she’s done, we’re pulling up to a door.

“Where are we?” I ask, peeking out the window, only to see a big brick wall. I can’t see much from this angle, and it doesn’t help that it’s dark.

There’s a knock on the window a second before the door opens. “Maya Danvers?” a man in a black suit asks, poking his head in.

“That’s us,” Maya confirms cheerfully, then turns to me. “Put this on.” She hands me a blindfold.

“No,” I groan. “Maya, no.”

“For me?” she pouts.

“Ugh, you know I don’t know how to tell you no.” I sigh, taking it from her and putting it on.

I might be a bit of a pain in the ass right now, but I’m pretty excited to see what this surprise is. She’s been practically bouncing out of her seat the whole car ride.

“I got you,” Gavin reassures, taking my hand as he helps me out of the car.

“This is stupid,” I mutter as I’m led through a building.

I can’t see anything, but the deeper we get in, the louder it seems to get. Like there are a bunch of people rushing around and talking.

“Where are we?” Brady asks.

“I’m not saying anything,” Benji replies. “Maya would kill me for ruining the surprise."

“It’s nothing we need to worry about, is it?" Gavin asks.

“Do you really think Maya would put Lulu in danger?” Benji asks, as if my men were stupid. I mean, the question was silly. Maya is pregnant. The guys would never let her do anything reckless.

“Okay, just through this door,” Maya ushers.

Within a second, the whole atmosphere changes. The loud chaos going on around us is gone, replaced with something calming.

“Can I take my blindfold off now?” I ask.

“Yup!” Maya squeals, sounding like she’s vibrating with joy.

Pulling it off, I blink a few times, eyes adjusting to the light of the room before looking around.

My brows furrow. It’s just a room. With couches and a TV. “Where are–” I start, but words fail me as my eyes land on a poster on the wall.

“I knew how busy you were while the movie was being made, and never got the chance to come to set with me,” Maya starts as I read the words on the poster.

Rage Against the Heart. It’s a photo of three guys, and in front of them is a face that's burned into my mind, heart, and soul. Ally.

“She said back when we were done filming, she would have tickets waiting for me when their tour came back our way. I thought it would be the perfect birthday gift when you said you’ve never been to one of their concerts.

So, happy birthday!” she cheers. “I got you VIP tickets to Rage Against the Heart. And a private meet and greet with the band.”

“W-what?” I snap out of my shock, only for fear to come rushing in.

I’m in Ally’s dressing room. Ally is here... in this building.

The Ally I’ve been in love with for most of my life. Ally, who’s been my best friend for longer than that. Ally, whom I’ve been obsessed with since we parted ways.

Ally, the girl I need to let go of so I can move on with my life.

“No.” I shake my head. “No, no...”

“What’s wrong?” Maya’s smile falls. “I thought you would be excited. I know how much you like Ally Cat.”

She has no idea just how much I like Ally Cat. She has no idea what my past with her is. I’ve never told her because I didn’t want it to affect the way she viewed her.

My head is spinning, my heart pounding so fast I feel like I might pass out. This isn’t how I wanted to see Ally again.

Holy fuck. I think I’m gonna puke. No. No. I can’t see her. Not right now. I’m not ready. What do I say? What is she going to think?

“Whose scent is this?” Brady’s low, rumbling growl has me spinning around. He stands a few feet away, nostrils flaring, eyes wild like a deadly animal.

His hands are fisted at his side, body heaving with every breath he takes.

“Brady, man, are you okay?” Gavin asks, brows furrowed with concern.

“Who’s. Scent. Is. This!” he roars, demanding an answer.

“Listen, man. Calm down,” Grant, one of Maya’s other Alphas that I didn’t notice was here, says.

“Oh god,” Maya sobs out. “I’m so sorry, Lulu. Oh, I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean for this to happen.”

My eyes flick between the group of them. What is going on? Why is Brady acting like he’s ready to Hulk out, and why is my best friend sobbing as she looks at me with wide, horror-filled eyes?

“Oh fuck,” Gavin’s eyes widen, darting between Brady and me. “No,” he curses. “Fuck!”

“W-whats going on?” I ask, but it comes out as a whisper because Brady’s question clicks. He wants to know whose scent he is smelling. But why? Why would he be reacting to a scent like that?

Because he’s an Alpha who’s just caught the scent of his scent matched Omega.

“Oh god.” My hand flies to my mouth as everything comes crashing down around me. No. Not Brady. Not my Alpha. I can’t lose him. I can’t.

The room is filled with chaos as I stand there frozen. This can’t be real. This can’t be happening.

This is the band’s dressing room. And there’s only one Omega that's a part of that band.

That means... if Brady is scenting someone, it’s...the door opens and three guys come into the room, heads tossed back, laughing and joking around.

They come to a stop when they see us. “Ahh, what the hell is going on?” the blond one, Skyler, says.

Only a few feet behind them follow two men and her . “Ally,” I whisper.

She looks around the room, brows furrowed, before her eyes land on me.

They widen, and it’s like the world’s been shaken yet again. Everything around us goes still.

She’s so damn stunning. Even more beautiful than I remember. Still has the same long brown hair and eyes, same sun-kissed skin. Only now, she’s not a young girl anymore, but the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.

She blinks a few times, as if this is all just a dream.

It’s not a dream. Oh, it’s far from it.

“Lulu?” Ally whispers, like she can’t believe it’s me.

My lips part as I try to speak, but nothing comes out.

“What the fuck is going on?” the tall man behind her roars, taking a protective step in front of Ally. I’ve seen photos of him in the media. Liam Cross. Her bodyguard.

I’m hit with a wave of salted coconut and mahogany, and it’s like a punch to the gut. My arms wrap around my waist, a whimper slipping free.

“Lulu,” Gavin is next to me, pulling me into his arms. “Are you okay?”

I don’t answer him, eyes on Ally. Only, she’s not looking at me anymore. Her eyes are wide and locked on Brady.

I can see her body trembling, like she’s feeling the same thing I am. For my Alpha.

And me? Yeah, I just got fucking scent matched to her motherfucking bodyguard.

This has got to be some cosmic joke, right?

A low rumbling growl leaves the bodyguard, and my eyes snap from Ally to him.

It’s like everything snaps into place, my body swaying towards him.

Alpha. My Alpha.

I shake my head. NO. He’s not my Alpha. Gavin and Brady are. Gavin lets out a growl, too, holding me tight. That seems to snap Ally out of her trance long enough to look up at Liam.

Her brows furrow as she follows his line of sight. That's when her face morphs into an expression of pure rage.

“Oh, hell fucking no!” she snaps, rushing towards me. “This is not fucking happening.”

And this is how I die. Death by my ex-best friend kicking my ass.

Not the way I thought it’d go, but hey, at least Ally will be the last person I get to see before I die.
