“No,” Gavin tells him. “You're an Alpha who’s going through a lot of changes. But we’re going to get through it together. We’re a team. A pack. I have this handled.”
Brady walks over to the car and says something before stepping back from the car while it drives away.
A growl builds in my throat, thinking he’s choosing not to go to Ally when he goes over to Lulu to kiss her. “Be good, Doll Face. I’ll see you tomorrow, yeah?”
“Yeah.” She smiles. “I love you.”
“Love you more.” He kisses her again before jogging through the open gate.
“Where is he going?” I ask, confused as to why he’s heading towards his place rather than away.
“Has to get his baby,” Gavin chuckles.
“Baby?” What the fuck is he going on about?. He has a kid?
A few seconds later, the sound of an engine revs and lights appear. Brady zooms past us on a motorcycle, giving us a quick wave as he goes.
“His baby.” Lulu giggles. “Sometimes I think he loves that thing more than me,” she sighs.
“Come on.” Gavin nods towards the gate. “Let’s go tell Pops what's going on.”
“Gavin... is Slim Jim gonna lose it?” Lulu asks, with a hint of fear.
“Nah, baby. But I know we’re never going to live it down,” Gavin sighs.
Turns out, Slim Jim isn’t the meaty snack, but a big, burly biker man and the MC president of the Steel Devils MC California chapter.
The man tosses his head back and cackles. “You’re telling me your brother is scent matched to a teeny-bopper popstar?”
It takes everything in me not to growl. Ally is so much more than that. I hate it when people talk about her like she’s some airhead.
“No,” Gavin says. “He’s scent matched to Alisha Williams. She just so happens to be a famous singer. Dad, we judge by the person, not their life.”
“Right.” Slim Jim nods his head.
“And this guy.” Slim points to me. “Is her bodyguard, who you’re scent matched to?” he asks Lulu.
“Yes,” Lulu answers.
He narrows his eyes. “Does that mean you're leaving my boys?”
“No,” Lulu answers quickly. “You know I love your sons. They’re not going anywhere.”
He huffs. “So how is this going to work?”
“We’re combining packs,” Gavin explains. “So Brady can be with Ally, while still being with Lulu. And Lulu can be with Liam while still being with Brady. And they all share Ally.”
“Wait, what?” Slim Jim’s brows furrow. “Who’s sharing this Ally girl?”
“Ally is someone from my past. Someone I’ve been in love with for years, but had a falling out with a long time ago.”
“Ahhh.” Slim nods. “The one that’s kept you from letting my sons sink their teeth into that pretty little neck.”
Lulu’s cheeks pinken. “Yeah.”
“And you,” he asks me. “Why are you banging this singer?”
My jaw grinds. “I’m not banging her.” I try not to growl, then clear my throat. “It’s complicated.”
“I’d say.” Slim Jim blows out a breath. “But it is what it is. Can’t choose your mates.
Gotta do the best with what you’re given.
So, what does this mean? These newbies gonna be moving onto the compound?
” His brow furrows. “Gavin, I don’t want none of that paparazzi around here getting into club business,” he growls.
“That’s not gonna happen,” Gavin reassures him. “We’re actually going to be going on tour with Ally and her band.”
“You boys are going to give me grey hair,” he grumbles. “Fucking hell. Steel Devils going on tour? I swear I’ve seen it all now.”
Gavin takes off to handle some things regarding his shop, giving Lulu a kiss goodbye.
“That went a lot better than I thought,” Lulu comments after we leave Slim Jim’s office. “I thought he was going to kill Gavin.”
“Really?” My brows furrow in worry.
“No.” She laughs. “I did think a lot more yelling would be involved, though."
“Huh.”
“So...” Lulu stops, turning to look at me. She tucks some of her short blonde curls behind her ear. “Did you wanna go to the bar and get a drink, or...”
“Not much of a drinker.”
She nods her head. “Same. Well... we could go upstairs and pack?”
“Okay.” I nod.
I follow her down a hall and up a few staircases until we get to the top floor. “This is mine and the guys' suite,” she says, opening the door to a mini apartment.
“You stay inside the clubhouse?” I ask. “With all the bikers?”
“Don’t worry,” she laughs. “None of the guys would dream of harming me or putting me in an uncomfortable situation. They know it’s a death sentence.”
My brows furrow. “Literally or figuratively?”
Her eyes sparkle with laughter as she mimics the zipped lips motion.
She’s fucking adorable.
“And here you were worried about me being the serial killer,” I laugh, shaking my head.
“There’s different kinds of serial killers Liam,” she grins. “Maybe if they’re the kind that's obsessed with me and not the kind that wants to kill me, I could make an exception.”
“You're an interesting little thing, aren’t you?” I smirk.
She gives me a playful smile. “Help yourself to something to drink, or anything in the fridge. I’m gonna go pack.”
Lulu leaves me in the kitchen before disappearing into a room.
Shoving my hands in my pockets, I take a moment to look around the place.
It smells of their combined scents, giving it a very lived-in feeling. They really are a pack. And here I come along to shake things up.
Sighing heavily, I can’t help the old worries coming back in. Lulu might be my scent match, but she already made a life with these guys. What if, even though I am her scent match, she still leaves me?
Unease creeps over me, and I drift over to where I can hear her moving around in the room.
Leaning against the doorway, I watch as she shoves clothes into a bag.
I watch for a little while, my eyes engraving every inch of her into memory.
She’s this tiny little blonde thing, but her curves are to die for. My eyes land on her ass, and I bite the inside of my cheek. She’s changed into sleep shorts that stop just below her ass cheeks.
“You going to watch like a creeper, or you gonna help?” She pauses, grinning at me over her shoulder.
Pushing off the doorway, I walk over to her. She turns around to face me, but I tower over her, forcing her to tilt her head back. I watch her throat as she swallows hard, her sweet lemon meringue pie scent making my cock go stiff and my knot ache.
“Can you blame me for watching?” I murmur, reaching up to tuck some hair behind her ear, loving the way she shivers at my touch. “You’re fucking stunning, Lulu.”
“I am?” she whispers, licking her lips.
“A fucking angel,” I growl softly before lowering my face down to hers, my lips hovering just an inch away. I can feel her warm breath against my lips, and it’s taking everything in me not to throw her on this bed and rut into her like a feral Alpha.
“Liam,” she whimpers softly.
“Yes, Angel?”
“Kiss me.”
A growl rumbles in my chest, and I don’t wait another second before lowering my lips to hers.
My whole body ignites, and this feeling of my heart stitching back together hits me. It’s been a long time since I’ve felt this whole.
My hand slides behind her head, cradling it while I continue to kiss her.
She grabs my hair, twisting it in her fist while her lips dance against mine. Everything feels so fucking right it’s almost terrifying.
We kiss until my head is spinning, our scents mingling together, and her slick, her fucking slick, the scent has me nearly crumbling to my knees.
“Is it bad that I want to climb you like a tree right now?” Lulu asks, panting against my lips.
I can’t help but chuckle. “No, because I want you to climb me like a tree.”
Moving just enough to see her stunning smile, we both laugh.
“As much as I think we would both enjoy that, I’d like to get to know you a bit before we take that step.”
I smile softly, nodding. “However long it takes.”
She bites her lip, swollen from our kisses. Leaning down, I suck that lip into my mouth and bite down lightly.
She whimpers, her perfume filling the air.
“Okay, I’m just being cruel,” I groan.
“You think?” she breathes, blinking up at me.
“Let me help you pack.”
“Okay.” She nods.
For the next half hour, we pack everything that’s hers before moving on to Gavin and Brady’s. We talk and laugh. For the first time in what feels like forever, I feel free. Like the walls I had up don’t need to be there anymore.
Every second with Lulu settles the worry inside me. Letting me know that this is going to be okay.
She tells me stories about the things she and Ally used to get into when they were kids. And some of it doesn’t surprise me at all.
“She’s always been this little firecracker, huh?” I ask, putting the last bag next to the door.
“Yeah,” Lulu confirms, climbing into the big king-size bed.
“She’s always had this glow about her. She made me want to be better, to live life.
She’s the only reason why I didn’t fully get consumed into the life my parents had me in.
” She looks down, playing with her fingers.
“The cult, I mean. She’s the reason why I didn't fall for their lies.” She looks up at me, and my heart starts to race.
I hate seeing the hurt of her past in her pretty blue eyes. I hate the idea of her hurting at all.
“She showed me that the things they were preaching were lies. She opened my eyes, and the more time I spent with her, the more I knew something was really wrong with my life.”
Sensing Lulu needs me, I take off my shoes and strip down to my t-shirt and boxers before climbing into bed. A part of me feels weird because this is the bed she shares with Gavin and Brady. But if we’re joining packs, we’re all about to get a lot closer than just sleeping in the same bed.
“Come here,” I murmur, opening my arms. Alpha pride fills me when she doesn’t hesitate. She snuggles into me, throwing her leg over my waist, burying her face into my neck.
I shiver when she presses her nose closer and inhales deeply. “You smell amazing,” she sighs dreamily.
“And you smell heavenly,” my voice breaks. It’s really hard to behave right now. I’m not used to my body feeling so out of control.
“Liam,” she murmurs.
“Yeah?” I rub my hand up and down her arm.
“I’m really happy right now.” Her voice sounds like she’s about to cry.
“Lulu.” I look down at her, and she looks up at me, tears swimming in her eyes.
“I’ve been through so much in my life, so many horrible things.
There were times I thought I was in hell,” she chokes out.
My heart sinks, and all I want to do is take away her pain.
“It took a long time before I started to feel good about things in my life. I never gave up, but I wanted to so many times. Everyone calls me brave for being able to keep going after what happened to me. But I’m not brave. ”
“Yes, you are,” I growl.
She shakes her head. “No. Because the only reason why I didn’t give up is because if I did, I’d never get the chance to see Ally again.
And that thought alone scared me more than anything.
For the longest time, she was the only thing that kept me going.
It wasn’t until I went to Calling Wood and met Maya that I felt like I had other reasons to stay, you know? ”
To stay. On earth? Fuck.
There’s a lump in my throat, and the urge to find the people who hurt her and kill them is really fucking strong.
“Then I met Gavin and Brady.” She smiles softly, eyes still filled with tears. “Two more reasons. But the thing is, there’s always been this part of me that was missing. And while I believe part of it was Ally, I now realize that some of that part... was you.”
“Me?” My brows furrow.
She nods her head. “I don’t think the universe wanted me to give up, because if I did, not only wouldn’t I have been able to see Ally again, but I wouldn’t have found you.”
“Fuck, Lulu,” I choke out.
“I know this is so new, and hell, we’ve only known each other a few hours.
.. but that’s how this works, you know? Scent matches are crazy; it's like they hold this power over us. But it’s what was written in the stars, what the universe had planned all along.
It’s like our souls know who we’re meant to be with and waited in the dark until we find them.
” She reaches up and cups my face, scratching at the stubble on my jaw.
I groan low, a rumbling purr leaving my chest.
She smiles proudly, her fingers still moving. It feels so damn good.
“Tonight I found my way back to my soulmate, my best friend. But I gained so much more.” She grips my beard and pulls me down to kiss me.
In this moment, I know I’m going to fall hard and fast for Lulu Carter. And I can’t fucking wait.
