Page 50 of Rhythm Of Our Souls (Heartbreak Melody #3)
“Is it time yet?” Liam asks, stepping closer to Ally. He wraps his arm around Ally’s shoulders, pressing a kiss to the top of her head.
We’re all worked up and worried about Ally. My girl has hardly slept since she’s gotten the news. Nate had to move some things around to make sure Ally could be here for the court date.
We flew in for a few days and are supposed to be heading to San Francisco next. We’re done with the tour bus for the rest of the tour, choosing to fly because everyone is done being stuck in small spaces. It was nice for a while, but two months is too much for me.
I miss being home, I miss my bike, and I miss working on cars and getting my hands dirty.
Knowing we get to come back here to LA after the shows are done has me feeling better about there being another few weeks left of the tour. Less than a month. Then... well, then I’m not really sure. We haven’t had that talk on what happens after this.
Obviously, we know we’re going to be a pack, but where? I’m not sure how I feel about living off the compound. I’ve never seen myself in some big fancy mansion.
My life has always been with the MC. I know things are going to change; they already have, but how much more?
“Five minutes,” Nate says. “They are just finishing up with one of the victims."
“So many people.” Ally chews on her fingers nervously. “So many people are here to testify against her.”
“That’s good, right?” Gavin asks. “More people against her lessens her chances of getting out.”
“The fact is, there shouldn’t be this many people.” Her eyes well with tears. “She shouldn’t have been able to take advantage and hurt anyone. Let alone twenty-plus people.”
My eyes flick over to Lulu. She’s standing next to Gavin, eyes on Ally. She’s seen that Ally is stressed by this whole situation and has been trying to give her some room to breathe, but my girl just wants to be there for her woman. It’s killing her.
“Lulu, baby, come here.” I open my arms. She blinks over at me and licks her lips before burrowing into my side.
I wrap my arms around both my girls, pulling them close to me.
“Get the fuck out of here!” Liam barks, making us all jump.
Head snapping over my shoulder, I find Liam rushing towards what looks like paparazzi. “How did they get in here?” I snarl, tightening my arm around Ally.
Since the news about Julia’s parole hearing got out, they’ve been hounding Ally more than usual. Getting in her face, demanding to know things that are none of their fucking business.
Out of all the times Ally has been stalked by the paparazzi, it’s never been this bad. Mostly because Liam is good at his job, and Ally wore a lot of disguises when out in public.
For the most part, they follow around Tyson, Skyler, and Ryker because they were easier to spot and never hid their appearances, making them an easy target.
It helped a lot with keeping Ally out of the public eye. But since we’ve decided to stop trying so hard to keep our pack to ourselves, things have changed. People are noticing, and I’m quickly realizing that this whole superstar lifestyle is not for me.
How does that work? How can someone be mated to a celebrity but stay out of the public eye?
“They shouldn’t be in here,” Nate says, then shouts to a few of the guards that have been put on Ally’s watch.
“Alisha Williams.” Someone steps out of the door, gaining our attention. “The judge would like to see you now.”
“You got this, baby.” Lulu cups Ally’s face, pressing a soft kiss to her lips. “You’re not alone. Never alone.”
“I got this,” Ally whispers to herself. “I got this.”
With one hand in mine and the other in Lulu’s, we make our way into the courtroom.
It’s empty except for the judge.
We take our seats while Ally stays standing, approaching a little stand with a mic.
The judge asks her to state her name and why she’s there.
With a shaky breath, she leans forward. “Hi, I’m Alisha Williams, and I am one of Julia’s victims. I’m here to tell my story and why I believe Julia shouldn’t be allowed parole.”
My heart is beating wildly, my nerves are shot. I feel like I’m going to go out of my mind just sitting here.
Tiny, soft hands squeeze mine. I look down to find Lulu’s worried eyes meet mine. She’s just as much of a mess as we all are about this.
Ally starts to tell the judge about how it started, and when Julia first used her Alpha influence on Ally, beginning when Ally found out about Lulu’s trial.
“I wanted to go back to my hometown to be there for the one person in my life I cared about more than anything else in this world. But when Julia found out, she commanded me not to go.” Ally grips the stand as she continues to tell the judge about the threats Julia made if Ally went.
“I thought it was only going to be that. She had no reason to control me to do anything else. Until she did. Any time she saw a chance for me to make more money, she forced me to take it. She signed me up for projects I didn’t want to do.
Started me in modeling and acting, which were never really things I’ve ever thought of doing.
Music was my passion, but I was commanded into becoming this trick pony that could do everything and anything as long as it made her money. ”
With everything she says, my anger grows.
I’m furious for my Omega, for everything she’s had to endure. She never deserved to have to deal with any of that. My fucking heart breaks for her.
By the time Ally is done, she’s in tears. I don’t care what the judge says, I’m on my feet and pulling Ally into my arms.
“Thank you, Ms. Williams.”
We leave the courtroom in gloomy moods.
“We’ll meet you back at the hotel, okay?” I tell Ally, kissing her before leaving her with Liam, Nate, and Lulu.
“We’re not letting that bitch get out,” Gavin growls as we head back into the courthouse.
“Over my dead fucking body,” I growl, pulling out my phone. It rings a few times before the other side of the line picks up. “Hey, Dad.” I look to Gavin. “We need a favor.”
“She’s not getting out.”
I step around the corner, seeing Ally standing in the middle of the living room as she stares at the phone in disbelief.
“What?” I ask, not sure if I heard her right.
She looks up from her phone, blinking at me in shock. “She’s not getting out. That was my lawyer on the phone. She’s been denied parole.”
“Thank fuck,” I mutter to myself, letting out a sigh in relief.
“What!” Lulu gasps, jumping up from the couch and rushing over to Ally. “That's amazing.”
Ally’s beautiful face slips into a small smile. “That's not all.” Tears spring to her eyes. “Because of my statement and a few new victims who came forward, the judge has added another five years to her sentence.”
Now that's what I fucking want to hear.
A grin splits across my face, finding Gavin. He looks at me with his own smirk.
Lulu glances over at us, brows furrowed. I just smile at her, shooting her a wink. She narrows her eyes, letting me know she’s on to me. I don’t even care.
“Fuck yes!” Liam shouts with excitement, picking Ally up and spinning her around.
Now my girl can relax. Now she can stop worrying about her abuser being let out.
“I’m so fucking happy for you, Sweetheart.” When Liam puts her down, I pull Ally into my arms and kiss her roughly.
“I feel like I can finally breathe,” she says with a laugh. “I really thought there might be a chance that she would get out early.”
Absolutely fucking not was I going to let that happen.
“She’s right where she belongs.” Nate kisses Ally’s temple. “I’m so happy for you, baby.”
“Me too.”
Me fucking too.
To celebrate, Liam cooks for everyone, and we end up snuggled on the couch watching a comedy show. We end the day with some much-needed laughs after a week that’s been filled with nail-biting stress.
When night comes, Ally is tucked into one of my sides, Lulu on the other. We’ve been staying at Ally’s place, one I’m still not used to being inside.
She had an Alaskan king delivered after we met, so there was a place for us to sleep together when we came back to LA. Knowing she just knew we would be a pack, and that everything would work out, makes me love her even more.
When the morning comes, I find Lulu sitting in the backyard, watching the sun rise, coffee in hand.
“Hiding from our Omega, I see.” I chuckle.
Lulu’s eyes snap up to mine like she’s been caught with her hand in the cookie jar.
She chews on her lower lip, her guilty look making her all the more adorable. “I’m sorry, okay!” she huffs out a laugh. “I love my girl. But I also love coffee. So maybe I sneak a cup or two in the morning. I don’t want to be rude and drink it in front of her face."
“You're adorable.”
“Thanks.” She smiles. “I try.”
“No need to try. It comes naturally.”
“What are you doing up so early? And why are you trying to get on my good side?” she teases, raising a brow.
Busted.
“We wanted to see if you wanted to come for a ride with us,” Gavin says, stepping out on the back deck.
That piques her interest. “Where?”
Finding my brother's eyes, I shake my head. “Not here,” he says. “Trust us?”
“Of course.” Lulu’s brows furrow.
“Go get dressed,” I tell her. “We have a meeting in a few hours.”
She raises a brow, looking between the two of us before sighing heavily. “I don’t know what you two are about to get me into, but you're lucky I love you.”
Laughing, I swat her ass as she heads inside.
“You think she’s gonna kill us?” Gavin asks when Lulu is out of earshot.
“No,” I grunt. “I think she’s going to be thrilled.”
“Yeah.” Gavin grins. “I think so too.”
“Wanna tell me why we’re outside the women's prison?” Lulu asks as she takes her helmet off. Gavin takes it from her and helps her off his bike.
Looking around, I make sure there’s no one in sight before bringing my attention back to Lulu. “We all wanted to make sure that bitch stayed in jail, right?” I ask, stepping closer as I lower my voice.
“Well, yeah,” Lulu growls. “She should get the death penalty if you ask me.”
