My phone was blowing up as me and the goddesses were behind the niggas that shot at us.

Ezra was behind us as we continued following them while they peeled each corner, thinking they were going to get away.

I could tell they weren’t from the area with the route they were taking.

I nodded to Kiki, and she turned off on one block and then Marley turned off on the second.

Ezra remained with me as we continued on their trail.

They were panicking from the way we were on them.

Ezra nodded to me as he bit down on his bottom lip.

He hopped on his bike soon as the shots rang out, not bothering to put his helmet on.

Neither of us was concerned with putting them on, and I could hear Meer screaming at me.

They shot at my family; they had to answer to me.

Ezra nodded as they made a sharp left because Marley came from one block, and they couldn’t go down it. When they tried to make a right, Kiki came from the other, forcing them down the block we wanted them to go down.

They blew down the block and then slowed down once they realized there was only one way in and one way out.

I heard the sound of an engine and turned to see my nephew blowing down the block in his truck.

He must have been near, and Cappy probably called and told him where I was since he couldn’t get to me in time.

Spinning their bikes around, they looked like they were about to try and ride past us.

I pulled my gun, and cocked it back before homie had the chance, and aired them out.

Capone always told me to be quicker than the next man, pull that trigger before they could even wrap their fingers around theirs.

Ezra followed suit, and Kiki and Marley did the same.

We lit them up, giving them no chance to use the guns they had just used on Sim and Meer.

Capella spun his truck around us, and I watched as he leaned out the window and emptied his clip, making sure those bitches were dead.

“Get to Sim’s block… Papa already waiting on you. Meer wants me to bring you to him.”

I nodded as I spun the bike around and bolted from the block. We were only a few blocks from where Sim used to live. He owned nearly the whole block, so I sped down the block and turned into the house across from his.

The garage door opened soon as I pulled into the driveway. Papa was in the garage when it opened, and I could see that same fire his son had in his eyes. I pulled into the garage, and Capella was right behind me.

“You handled business.” He kissed my head. “Get to Blaze because he’s not good right now…you the only one that can control and calm him down.”

I quickly left and hopped into the car with Capella. My phone buzzed again, and I saw it was Corleon’s name. “Yeah?”

“Everything is deleted… good shit. Bros are on their way to you. Tell nephew to hit those plates for me, though.” He said and then ended the call as I leaned my head back and closed my eyes.

“Capella, he cannot die. Blair would never recover… we would never recover. God didn’t bring him this far to take him away from us.”

Capella looked over at me and then back to the road. “He’s going to be good… Quasim ain’t letting shit take him away from Blair and Elijah.”

I wanted to believe what Capella was saying because that was what felt good.

My heart wouldn’t allow me to believe anything else because then I would become emotional.

There was no room for me to become emotional right now.

It’s always been known that if Quasim was ever out of commission for any reason, Quameer would step into his role.

Nobody accounted for both Meer and Quasim to be out of commission at the same time.

As his wife and the mother of his child, I needed to play my part and stand beside him.

Ryder and Rayce were on the compound, so they were safe.

I didn’t need to worry about them because nobody was getting through those gates or guards on the compound.

After Quasim broke up mutual grounds, Capone hired armed guards for the property.

Every inch of the compound had guards on it.

Taking a deep breath, I closed my eyes and tried to steady my heart. Today started out so good and ended like this. We were supposed to be seeing the baby. I wanted to see Quasim’s face when he saw his baby on the screen.

His second chance at being a father.

Her second chance at being a mother.

Me and Meer both wanted to experience it with them. We had been wanting them to be together forever. It was finally happening; they were married and expecting a baby together.

“Hey, I’m in class right now, babe… no we’re not fucking in your truck again. We almost got caught the last time,” Aimee giggled while whispering into the phone.

Capella checked his mirrors, and that’s when we noticed Bullies surrounding the car. Salah came on my side, as I rolled the window down. “Your husband called me… told me to get you to him now.”

I nodded my head as Capella and Aimee were still talking. “Baby, I need you to leave class now and head to the compound. IGs on their way to you no?—”

“Is that why Pops is calling so much?”

“Quasim was shot, Aim.”

“Fuck… leaving now.”

“Aim, who you with right now?”

“Landon… we have the same class… what’s up?”

“Put him on.”

“Okay.”

You could hear whispering while the professor was teaching the class. “Yo?”

“Shit went down… I need you to get my wife out of there.”

“No doubt, I got you. Where you want me to take her?”

Capella checked his surroundings, although we were surrounded by Bullies. “Bring her to my family’s compound.”

“I got you… yo, Aimee, we out.”

“Excuse you, I am in the middle of teaching a cla?—”

“You fucking excused.” Landon barked back to the professor, who was clearly stunned by his tone and language.

If she met his brother, then she wouldn’t have been surprised by his response.

“Good looks.”

“Nigga, it’s all love… got you. I’ll hit you with a location when we closer.” He told him. “You strapped, Aimee… never mind, you a Delgato; yo ass always strapped.”

“Leaving now, baby.” Aimee came back onto the phone.

I watched as he switched lanes, and the bikes remained surrounding him. “Love you, Aim… call me when you touch down.”

“Love you more, Capella. Be careful, please.”

“Always.”

Capella continued across the bridge, bringing us into Staten Island. I’ve always noticed that Capella resembled my brother but seeing him on the phone making sure his wife was secure, while bringing me to Meer, really showed me that my nephew had come into his own.

“Why didn’t he take him to the hospital? What is going on, Capella?” I questioned the further we got into Staten Island, and I hadn’t seen one hospital in view.

“Capone set it up this way… been working on this since before my pops came home. Everything finally came together. It took a minute to get everything that was needed.”

He was saying a bunch of nothing, which had me nervous. This wasn’t the time for us to be experimenting when Quasim had been shot. As he whipped through this upscale neighborhood, I really became nervous.

Capella hit a code, and the gates opened as he sped into the large driveway. Killing the engine, we both jumped out and I followed behind him since he seemed to know more than me. What was this place?

Soon as we entered the front door, there was blood all over the foyer and I heard my husband’s mouth. “Fuck all that shit… I’m not doing shit until my fucking Suga walk through that door!”

“Meer?”

He became quiet, and I heard them all yelling for him to stay still.

My husband was hardheaded and rounded the corner, blood dripping all over the floor behind him.

When he saw me, he took the biggest breath, and I rushed into his arms. Immediately, he covered my face in kisses, holding onto me for dear life.

“Sug, don’t do no shit like that ever again… do you fucking hear me?”

I had tears in my eyes. “I couldn’t allow them to get away… they don’t get the privilege of doing that.”

“We need to remove that bullet because you are losing a lot of blood.” One of the doctors came around the corner, concerned with my husband’s current state.

It was then that I remembered that he had been shot, too, and he was more focused on me. “I’m not going nowhere unless my wife is with me.”

They didn’t bother to argue with him, getting him onto a gurney, which surprised the shit out of me.

The inside of the home was filled with warm earth tones, and it seemed like someone actually lived here.

As I followed behind them while they rolled him down the hall, I saw Blair pacing in the living room.

When she looked up and saw me, she rushed around the couch as I rushed to her.

“Capri, I don’t know what I’m going to do… I can’t breathe… they won’t tell me anything.” She spoke so many words at once as I held her.

Havoc sat on one couch while Syn sat on another one. “She won’t calm down and Hassan has already threatened that he would sedate her if she didn’t calm down.”

I took her hand and pulled her with me as we went down the hall. A nurse came from the kitchen, and she looked at us as we were trying to figure out where they went. “Down that hall and take the elevator or steps to the lower level.”

It was so much going on that I didn’t know what to say or do. “Who owns this house?”

She dried her hands and grabbed a lunch bag from the fridge. “Del Go’s sanctuary.”

I paused because our family’s trucking business was Del Go. How was this place named the same thing? “I’m confused… you work here?”

“Yes. There’s a full staff of doctors and nurses that work here.” Her phone chimed, and she looked alarmed. “I have to go.”
