Page 48 of Hell Fae Captive
“Lucifer’s first name,” Sir Bachen replied from the door before I could stop him. “He doesn’t really use it, but I prefer it.”
“Time to go, Bach,” I interjected. “She’s a captive, not a friend.”
Sir Bachen grunted in response, his distaste evident. “Fine, fine,” he muttered, waddling off through the door. “I have better places to be anyway.”
Az snorted. “Take care of that blade. I’m getting it back.”
“Sure, sure,” Sir Bachen echoed as he stomped off down the hall, his stone wings dragging along behind him.
Turning back to Camillia, I found her with her arms crossed as she had the audacity to glare up at me. Instead of reprimanding her, Iwaited to see if she had anything else to say for herself or if she intended to continue talking about fucking desserts again.
Then she flipped me off and Az smiled.
Defiant little thing.
I opened my mouth to make a snide comment, but Az began to circle her position on the rug. Embers flickered in his gaze, something that happened when he was deep in thought and calling upon his magic.
Poor girl has no idea the mess she’s waltzed herself into by not only pissing off Lucifer but also grabbing the attention of me and now Az.
He was amused by her; that much was clear. He studied her like he wanted to turn her into his own version of acupcake—one he intended to devour thoroughly.
Leaning against the wall, I decided to let this play out, see where it went.
“There’s something…” Az trailed off, his head cocking to the side. “Hmm, no, she didn’t do that on her own.”
I arched a brow. “What are you sensing?”
“Enchantment,” he mused, his irises flaring with more of those gold flecks. I wondered if Camillia could sense his Phoenix side peeking out at her, or if she even knew how to recognize it.
Normally, I would say,Probably not. But given her propensity for doing exactly the opposite of typical expectation, she probablydidnotice it. Although, she did appear to be quite distracted by the handsome Commander at the moment. And her little show of defiance weakened with each passing second, until her crossed arms fell limply to her sides as though under some sort of spell.
Az possessed a lot of skills, his Shifter half gifting him the ability to seduce instinctually—an ability I very much enjoyed behind closed doors. He didn’t appear to be using it on her now, but his natural prowess certainly had her caught in some kind of sensual web.
Az knelt in front of her and ran a finger over her bottom lip, then trailed it down her neck.
She didn’t move, mesmerized by him as he lifted her talisman into his palm. He hummed.
I recognized the sound—it was one he used when he went down on me.
I cocked a brow, waiting.
Az finally spoke, his voice melodic. “Where did you receive this pretty necklace?”
My gaze dropped to the glittering talisman. I’d been so distracted by her breasts that I hadn’t even properly noticed it.
But Az had.
Camillia blinked dreamily at him, her voice soft. “It was a gift.”
Az smiled. “Hmm, very interesting. Unfortunately, gifts were not permitted before tonight’s ceremony, so I’ll be confiscating this item.” His eyes lifted to mine. “Ajax?”
I nodded, agreeing to the unspoken question. He wanted to take the item to Lucifer.
Camillia pouted but didn’t argue. She seemed to still be caught in the trance Az had weaved through her.
I walked behind her and crouched to remove the necklace. With Az directly in front of her, she was practically sandwiched between the two of us.
An image that I found I liked.
