Page 30 of Hell Fae Captive
If that was supposed to tell me the creature was bad, then that wasn’t helpful at all.
“Melek!” I shrieked.
His lips twitched again. “I think that’s enough for tonight. The lesson has been learned.”
What fucking lesson? How to get mauled by a beast?
Melek lifted a hand to give a careless flick of his wrist as he murmured,“Dimittee.”
The beast vanished.
The word seemed to float between us in the sudden silence that followed.
A torn page from the book floated down, drifting through the air with a word written across it. I frowned and squinted.Dimittee.
I blinked.No. That can’t be real. I’m just seeing it after hearing it out loud.Because Melek…
My jaw tightened as I turned to gape at him. “You could do that this whole time and just stood there?”
“Yes.”
I growled. “And you didn’tthinkto do it a little earlier?”
“Do that again.”
“What?” I snapped.
“That little growl. It was too adorable. Like a kitten.”
I wanted to rip his throat out. Throttle him. Smash his head in with this massive book.
Instead, I bit back, “And you remind me of an ass.”
His brows arched as he stalked toward me. “Do I? Because I don’t recall donkeys being handsome in your realm.”
This fae really thought he was funny. I rolled my eyes and turned away to start walking, done with him. I just wanted to return to my dorm.
He caught up to me, his breath tickling my ear. “Perhaps I should take the lead this time?”
I whirled on him, scowling. “What? No way.”
He shrugged. “Suit yourself. But your way hasn’t led you home yet, little angel.”
Frowning, I glanced back at the way I had gone.
And spotted more shredded pieces of paper rolling across the ground.
Fuck.
“Fine,” I growled, eliciting a cocky smile from him.
He indicated which direction to start in with a flourish of his hands, drawing my gaze to the subtle tattoo peeking out from beneath his cuff along his wrist. It was there and gone too fast for me to detail it, but it left me wondering what he hid under his clothes.
Something I really did not need or want to think about right now.
So I shifted to a more important topic.
“Whatwasthat thing?” I asked as we passed the massive crater still oozing acid.
