Page 110 of Hell Fae Captive
Although, it had cost me almost all of my reserves to keep breathing. Fighting my way through a bunch of Centaurs, not to mention Elite bitches, had been bad enough before I’d damn well nearly suffocated in the tunnels.
It was the heat that had drained me. The inhospitable landscape was not meant to be endured for extended periods, or even short ones, without magic.
I should have caved.
I should have used Melek’s spells.
But I couldn’t bring myself to do it.
Because I hadn’t wanted to risk angering the Hell Fae King.
Shuddering, I closed my eyes and inhaled sharply, the need for air taking hold and squeezing my lungs. Only, the dungeon atmosphere wasn’t much better, and it still smelled like a barn in here.
Ugh.
What I wouldn’t give for a cool shower right now.
Some food.
A nap.
Well, while I was wishing for things, I wished I was in my apartment back home sleeping off a hangover, not trapped in this fucked-up game of survival.
But I wasn’t in my apartment complaining to my friends about the lack of desirable male specimens in the city.
Because my father had traded my soul to the literal devil.
Fuck.
I curled tighter into a ball, my body protesting every movement and causing my insides to riot with hunger. My head pounded. My throat barely worked. My lungs burned.
Everything spun, too. Probably from those fucking portals. This last one had lasted for… for… oh, I didn’t know how long. I’d lost count around a thousand. But I’d been spinning forever, all the while salivating for that feast, only to end up in this dungeon several seconds, minutes, hours, later.
Just like the portal that had taken me from the Centaurs down to the maze.
It’d been torture.
Especially this last round in the spinning portal because I hadn’t known where I would end up next. Part of me had worried I’d be dropped right into a Siren tank or something worse.
I was strong and could endure a lot, but my muscles were maxed out. It felt as though I’d run ten marathons. Maybe I had. And I had absolutely no concept of how long it all had taken. Nor did I care, not with my body shivering violently and sweating at the same time.
“Going to nap already?” a silky voice asked, causing my stomach to twist in a whole new way.
Forcing my eyes open, I met the multicolored gaze of a male specimen who most definitely wasdesirable.
Melek’s angelic features made him almost too perfect, apart from the hint of ink peeking out at me around his wrists. It left me wondering what tattoos lurked beneath his clothes again, as I’d only seen subtle hints of it before.
His beautiful perfection almost seemed like a dream.
Maybe it was.
Maybe I’m dead.
That would explain all the loose buttons of his shirt, revealing part of his chest.
And his bedroom-like hair with those thick waves tousled messily around his ears, almost as though he’d just been fucked.
Hmm.
