Yes, Elelira’s little friends are as good as dead, and so is she once we cross into Lord Tenebris’s territory. She may think she has bested me, but she could never best him. Not on her own. No one can.
When I was young, my father told me that an alliance with the demons and the leader of the north would never be possible. When he threatened to take the pack from me and give it to my sister after I made contact with Lord Tenebris behind his back, Lord Tenebris gave me the strength I needed to overthrow my father and trap my sister to be a slave to my will for as long as one of us lived.
Lord Tenebris did not fail to save me from ruin then, and he won’t fail me now.
If she thinks she is using me, that she has bested me, I am going to let the bitch continue to think that. She is using me to save two corpses. No one crosses the dark lord and survives.

This is stupid. It's like we are all just waiting around in the lobby of some demon inn to die after working so hard to escape. We didn't work so hard to get here for nothing. I'm not turning back now.
What the hell is going on?
“Who is that girl?” Irrita stared up at Nilo’s Lycan. He just shakes his head, not knowing.
What girl? I slowly slink up next to them to see who they are talking about. The stench of the demons and the general smell of the decaying world outside makes me want to gag. This is hell. We have been taken to literal hell. My eyes scanned outside searching for something or someone that seemed out of place in this hell, so I could figure out who they were talking about. Then, my chest vibrates with violent hatred.
Irrita, Cecilia and Nilo looked at me in confusion. I had to shift back to tell them whoshereally was.
“Angelina,” I sneered. “That’s Angelina. Alpha Wayne’s daughter.”
The girl was older now, but I recognized her right away. She was the only woman in the pack that lived life without fear. Her father wouldn’t let his men treat her like they did the other women in the pack. She was untouchable and a bit naive. Very selfish. Her father appointedfriendsfor her, but her ignorance made her generally disliked by most everyone. When everyone else is living miserably, and someone is ignorant of it all, living life like a princess, it doesn't cause you to be well received.
Now look at her. The woman to some demonic fae being. Who knew that when her uncle claimed, since she was young, that she was already mated off to someone of great importance, that this is what he meant. I think that is why she was so arrogant and entitled. She truly thought she was going to be with someone important, but now she has been given to that thing.
Her eyes kept lingering on us by the door, then moving to the over-sized dragonfly mother fucker zooming around in the air. She was waiting for something, but what?
“What the hell is she doing up there?”
“I don’t know. That’s what we were trying to figure out.”
Angelina looked at us again, holding her hand to her side, lifted it slightly as if she was telling us to wait a moment. Wait for what?
We watched her for a few minutes, and I saw nothing but contempt on her face when she looked at the dark fairy lord. She didn't want to be up there. That was evident. Was she trying to help us? Really? Could the ignorant and arrogant little girl that always had her head in the sand be trying to signal for us to stay here until it is safe? What does she know? What are we waiting for?
Then, her eyes lifted, going wide as she stared off in the distance. Alarm bells started ringing in my head. We can’t see over the hordes of demons and dark fae beings to see what it is that caught her attention.
All of us shrink back when the hordes of the army closest to the hive doors turn their heads to look in the same direction as her. We were now in their peripheral vision and could be seen if we continued to peak out the way we were. We're stuck pressed up against the walls, blind to what was going on outside.
We were silent. The army went silent. Even Lord Tenebris stopped his monstrous ranting. Everyone went utterly quiet. Eerily so. All we could hear was the soft flapping and buzzing of his wings. Not knowing what was happening outside and the eerie quiet made my skin crawl. I want to shift back, but I don’t want to make even the smallest noise in doing so, because in this silence, even the ruffling of fur will be heard.
“Ah, Wayne,” the flying fucker, Lord Tenebris, rumbled, humor in his voice. I want to risk looking out the door to see what is going on, but Irrita stops me. She presses her fingers to her lips to tell me to be quiet, then points to the bare wall behind us. Her hand moves over its surface, sparking with magic, then suddenly we can see through it like a window.
There was nothing different to be seen at first. I couldn’t see any sign of Alpha Wayne. The crowd of hundreds was still turned in a single direction, so that is where all of us watched, waiting to see what caused Wayne’s daughter to look so surprised and anxious.
Lord Tenebris continued, “Alpha Wayne. Excuse me. In your current state, you looked less than equivalent to an Alpha. Forgive me for the mistake.”
The army mocked the alpha of the west, sneering in muffled murmurs. Then the army hordes shift, moving to allow a path through its center, though we still can’t see who they are making a path for. The deep rumbles of the army stir my need to find out what is going on, and who is there. The tension is mounting. Something isn’t right. I can feel it.
“Might I ask who this lovely young woman is who is escorting you so….coercively?”
“A-Apologies, Lor-Lord Tenebris,” the shaking voice of Alpha Wayne made my teeth grate against each other. “I brought her. Like you said to do.”
“Ah,” the dark fairy Lord chuckled, landing on the podium next to Angelina. “Did you bring her, or did she bring you?”
Lord Tenebris’s dark eyes are dancing with delight, his sinister smile and air of intimidation sending chills down my back.
