Page 94 of Anything Goes
Before my mother left, I made sure to give her one last hug and told her that I would eventually talk to her about it. She nodded in understanding and reminded me that I needed to go by and talk to Tokyo at some point.
I wasn’t sure when that was going to be, but seeing as I was still planning Keyon’s graduation party and he had the prom coming up, it wouldn’t be that long before we had a conversation.
As soon as I locked the door, I hurried back into my bedroom to grab my ringing cell. “Hey, Corey, what’s up?”
“Hey, Man, what you up to?”
“Nothing much, just lounging around.”
“Okay, cool. Meet me at the court, I’ve got some shit to tell you.”
“What’s going on?”
“Damn, didn’t I just tell you to meet me at the court? I’m not telling you this stuff over the phone. You know Ayesha be all up in my conversations.”
Laughing, I said, “Fine. I’ll be there in fifteen.”
“Cool. Oh, and bring your basketball. I’ve still got to get a new one.”
“I was bringing mine anyway. I can't trust your ass to bring a good one.”
“Wow, that’s cold.”
“I’m just speaking the facts. You’re too damn cheap to buy the good shit.”
He scoffed. “I’m not even going to entertain that with a comment. I’ll see your silly ass in a few minutes.”
“Bet,” I replied before hanging up the line.
Although I wasn’t too excited about having to leave the house, I was looking forward to dunking on Corey’s ass. If nothing else made my day, that definitely did.
It didn’t take me long to change and get to the court.
As expected, Corey was on the phone with Ayesha when I arrived, which meant I had to wait an extra twenty minutes to even speak to his ass.
“Let me guess, you had to get permission to be out here with me?” I said.
“Man, fuck you. I didn’t have to get permission to do a damn thing.”
“Oh really? So what were you two arguing about?”
Shaking his head, he said, “She’s tripping because I changed the passcode on my phone.”
“You did what?”
“I changed my passcode.”
“Why in the hell did you do that?”
“Because my damn niece kept hacking into my phone. I had to come up with something that her little ass couldn't figure out. My phone isn't her damn arcade. Plus, the shit I have in my photo gallery isn't exactly kid friendly. Ayesha sends me nudes damn near every day.”
Eyeing him in suspicion, I said, “Are you sure that’s the real reason you changed it? Or are you fucking around?”
“What? Hell no!” He blurted. “I wouldn't mess around with another woman. I love Ayesha. I can't even believe you would say some shit like that.”
“I just asked a question.”
“Yeah, well, it was a pretty fucked up one. Not every man is out here cheating. I already had to explain that to her. I shouldn’t have to explain it to you.”
