Without a doubt, I was definitely glad that Alauni and I had worked things out. Although we'd only been an official couple for a few hours, my ass was on cloud nine. I couldn't wait to call it a day and see what was in store for the night. I knew what I had in mind, but I was hoping that she was thinking the same thing.
“What’s up Coach J?” I said, dipping my face into her neck.
“Not out here,” she replied with a giggle. “I’m trying to focus on my girls.”
“I’m not stopping you from keeping an eye on them. I barely touched you.”
“But you were breathing on me. We both know that it doesn’t take much to get me going.”
“Yeah, you’re right,” I replied. “Let me step back before you try to give me the business right here on this field.”
“Whatever, I wouldn’t do that in front of the kids. Now, later…it’s on.”
“Your place or mine?”
Squeezing her eyes together, she paused. “Wait, I promised Layne that I would take her out for pizza tonight. She will have a cow if I bail on her.”
“No worries. Just call me whenever you get home. We don’t have to have sex. We can just talk about it.”
“You’re funny,” she said, shoving me in the chest.
“I’m just messing around. You can call me whenever you get home. I’m not going to be up waiting on your call though.”
“Don’t even lie. I already know that you will. Shit, you better be.”
“Aw, look at the two lovebirds,” Keyon teased.
Looking at me, Alauni shook her head. “This conversation is over. Back to work.”

“Where’s your mama?”
“Sitting right here, eating,” Layne replied. “We’re at Pizza Playland.”
I rolled my eyes, irritated by Latrell’s usual attempts to get to me. I didn’t give a damn about him being on video chat with our daughter, I wasn’t budging on my decision to ignore the hell out of him.
“Put her on the phone.”
“Okay,” she replied before trying to hand me the phone.
Gently, I eased it back in her direction, letting her know that I would talk to him later. But that didn’t go over too well.
As soon as Latrell realized that I wasn’t going to accept his call, he blurted, “Alauni, stop fucking around. You’re going to have to talk to me at some point.”
“Daddy…language,” Layne snapped, a deep scowl planted on her face.
“Sorry, baby. I just really need to talk to your mother.”
“Well, she said that she doesn’t want to talk right now. I’m sure she’ll call you later.”
“I doubt that. Mommy is being pretty mean to Daddy right now.”
“Really? Why?”
“I don’t know. But I’m going to get to the bottom of it.”
