I smiled at his pleased expression, and then returned my lips to his. “Good, because I think we can give this kitchen table a little more attention.”
Gripping my ass cheeks and playfully spreading them apart, he said, “Shit, I think you’re right.”

I was still tripping.
I couldn’t believe that my nephew was a high school graduate and was on his way to college. Well, he still had a few more weeks before he would be leaving, but it was still unbelievable and a little overwhelming.
Standing near the grill as my father flipped over the last two burger patties that were left, I said, “I’m so proud of Keyon.”
“We all are. He has a bright future ahead of him,” my father replied. “All he has to do is stay focused.”
“Yeah, I’m really hoping that he doesn’t get too distracted.”
“Me too. He seems to be pretty smitten by that young lady that’s hanging off of his arm though.”
I nodded, noticing just how close him and Ashlynn were as they stood in the middle of my father’s backyard. “Yeah, he definitely has a thing for her. But I think Ashlynn’s going to help him keep it together. She’s smart and she knows what she wants out of life.”
“Well, that’s good to hear.”
“What’s good to hear?” my mother said as she kissed me on the cheek.
“We were just talking about Keyon and his friend over there.”
“His friend?” she said, laughing at me. “Now, we all know that she’s way more than a friend.
“I mean, they have a thing for each other, but Keyon hasn’t said that they were dating.”
“You didn’t tell us when you started dating your little coach either,” she teased.
“That’s not the same thing. I’m a grown man. He’s a child.”
“Not anymore. He’s a grown man too.”
“Him graduating doesn’t make him a grown man, Mama.”
“Whatever,” she said, waving me off. “At the end of the day, those two are definitely dating and I bet they’ve had sex too.”
“What?” Tokyo said damn near dropping the bowl of potato salad that she had in her hands.
“Nothing. Mama is just talking crazy.”
“I’m not talking crazy,” she said. “Look at the way those two are all over each other. They spent the night at a hotel on prom night. I know you don’t think they were just sitting around watching movies.”
Placing the bowl down on the table, Tokyo said, “First of all, he stayed at a hotel with friends. There’s no guarantee that she was there.”
“Oh, trust me, she was definitely there.”
“Yvonne, stop stirring up trouble,” my father scolded. “You don’t know what those young folks were doing.”
“I know exactly what they were doing. Y’all can play stupid if you want to. We know damn well that Keyon ain’t no virgin.”
I shrugged. “Well, I knew that, but—”
“Wait a minute,” Tokyo said. “How did you know?”
