Page 85 of Anything Goes
“Yes, I do.” I pressed my hands against his back and gave him a playful shove.
Just when I thought that I was out of the woods, my bedroom door opened.
Shit!
I closed my eyes, praying that it was the wind.
Wishful thinking.
As soon as I saw Law step out of the room, I knew that it was about to be a problem. “Everything good out here?” he asked.
“Um…yeah…everything’s fine.”
But everything wasn’t fine.
The look on Latrell’s face as his eyes locked in on Law was everything that I was trying to avoid. His nose flared and I could feel the heat jumping off of his skin the longer he stood next to me.
“So, this is why your ass was in such a rush to get me out of here? I’m interrupting your little fuck session, huh?”
“Latrell, chill. Let’s not make this a problem,” I told him. “Things were going really well.”
I was trying to keep the peace, but my words were going through one ear and out the other. Latrell was halfway across the room, and inches away from Law. “You want to tell me who the fuck you are?”
Law remained in place, his arms folded firmly over his chest. “I don’t have to tell you a damn thing, and I suggest you calm your ass down.”
As expected, Latrell didn’t take heed to Law’s warning. He wasn’t the type of guy to back down from anything. Even when he was wrong, he still continued to act a damn fool just to make a point.
“Latrell, please stop. This isn’t the time or place to make a scene.”
“I’m not making a scene. I’m just asking some questions. Your little boyfriend needs to answer them.”
I wanted to laugh at his insinuation that Law was little. That couldn't have been further from the truth. Just with them standing in front of each other, Law towered over Latrell easily. The only thing they somewhat had in common was muscle, and even in that area, Law pretty much had him beat.
Stepping between the two of them, I said, “No one has to answer your questions. I’m a grown ass woman and I can do whatever I want, whenever I want. So, do me a favor and just leave.”
“I’ll leave when this nigga leaves.”
“Seriously?” I said, my hand pressed against my forehead. Taking a deep breath, I turned towards Law. “Would you please go back into the bedroom?”
“For what? Not for this nigga,” he spat.
My head shot up.
Law always made it clear that he wouldn’t step in the middle of anything that involved my daughter’s father. So, I expected him to walk away without a problem.
“Law, please,” I pleaded.
“Yeah, do like she said. Take your ass on before you get handled.”
I could feel the pressure of Law’s body against mine as he tried to move in closer to Latrell. “Fool please. You can’t handle shit over this way. I’ve been waiting to put my hands on your dumb ass.”
“Oh, well, don’t let me stop you from making a move. Just know that I’m not the one you need to be fucking with. I break necks for a living.”
“Trust and believe, I’m capable of the same shit.”
Shoving them both to separate sides of the room, I shouted, “Stop the bullshit! You will not do this here. Law, take your ass back in the room, and Latrell, get the fuck out of my apartment. If you’re not going to listen, then I’m calling the damn police.” I turned to Law. “I’m sure you don’t want me to do that.”
Finally hearing what I was saying, the two of them lifted their hands and took another step back. I didn’t give a damn what they did on their own time, but it wasn’t going to happen in front of me. I was over it from Latrell, and I was disappointed as hell to see Law’s reaction. I didn’t need any of this. Especially if he was going to be in my life.
