Keeping his anger at bay wasn’t easy, but he managed as he kissed and bit—gently—every inch of skin available to him.

“I’ll give you an example,” he spoke once he was confident his voice had lost that irate edge. “Littles don’t do it for me. Still, if a little boy comes to me to show me his castle, I’m going to aww at it. I’m going to ask where his Daddy is next, but I’m not pushing him away. Or, a friend of mine isn’t into puppies, but if a pup goes to her with a piece of rope to play fetch, she’ll throw it for them. Even if afterwards she comes to look for me or any of the other handlers she knows to take over. It’s what’s right.”

What’s humane, Ken didn’t add.

Nathan’s voice was incredibly small when he spoke again. “Your friends sound nice.”

“I’m lucky that way.”

He was.

“And you still… want to keep seeing me?” Nathan worried, hands fidgeting with a couple loose threads in the sweater he’d put on in a rush earlier. “Even if I’m not this super experienced, super active pup?”

“Yes.” Ken didn’t need to think his answer through, the nod coming to him as easily as breathing. “In fact, when you come to the Lake Resort, I want you to be a pup for as close to 24/7 as humanly possible.”

Nathan squealed, a new sound Ken had just apparently unlocked—a sound that had all of him vibrating and screaming to ravish the boy.

No one talked about how much self control being a Daddy required.

“Why?”

“Because I bet you’re an amazing puppy, and you deserve the chance to switch off and play. And because I’m going to crawl out of my skin if I don’t make it up to you for that experience.”

“You didn’t even know me,” Nathan snorted.

“It’s a Daddy thing.”

He’d make it one if he had to. In fact, a plan was starting to build up in his head, but he shelved it for later, when he was back home with no boy to capture all of his attention.

“I think you’re just being silly now, Daddy.”

“And I think,” Ken pretended to bite off the tip of his nose, “that Daddies know best, and that’s non-negotiable.”

“Whatever.”

Ken pretended to gasp, to be affronted by the most predictable response in the history of all responses. “Is that how good boys talk?” He pinched the skin above Nathan’s hip bone again too for good measure.

Not at all because he wanted to hear that higher pitched moan his boy let out every time.

Ken watched him as the sound stopped, and noticed something flashing across his eyes, the way he swallowed, his throat bobbing up and down.

He couldn’t help but feel proud when Nathan regained his bravado—and his voice.

“It’s how brats do.”

Ken laughed, too, openly. Funny he was able to do that about anything regarding brats now. “You, boy, are trouble.”

“You like it.”

Ken did.

Especially when he had such easy access to the buttons in Nathan’s flannel shirt. And when biting on the boy’s nipples caused him to lift almost entirely off the bed, fists clenched and hitting the mattress. It was fun to watch Nathan try to wiggle away from the torturous treatment.

“Color?”

“Green.”

“Then what the hell are you complaining about?” Ken shook his head.
