Nathan
fuck
I’m sorry
my phone died, I swear
do you want to call again?
and…come here? were you serious about that? I mean, you are coming to see me? maybe you’re not but it sounded like you were so…were you?
Daddy
That’s five questions, boy
Nathan snorted. He couldn’t bring himself to a full laugh, though, his head replaying the four words over and over, now with Ken’s voice. Imagining the way he’d look if they were spoken aloud.
The problem was that he couldn’t tell, though.
Was Ken mad? Disapproving? Did he write those while holding back laughter like Daddies did in porn when they were just nodding along to their boys’s whims and rants? Or was it a warning, a stern reminder that this wasn’t a game, even if it had kind of started as one?
Nathan
we weren’t counting questions when it was you
Daddy
You mean when I was checking in that you were okay and out of sub-drop
Nathan
same difference
Daddy
You should’ve thought of it before coming up with the game, brat. You’re now down to five questions
Nathan
fine
It was everything but fine. Nathan growled at the screen, a frown etched in his features as he caught himself stomping on the floor, fuming.
His mood was rather volatile these days.
Awareness didn’t stop him, though.
Daddy
I should go to bed. Same goes to you. We can set up a schedule for calling tomorrow, if you can agree to keep your phone plugged in while we talk
But yes, I’m driving to Sacramento to see you. I need to know what’s there before I commit more of myself to this. I think we both deserve that
Nathan held his breath as he read the texts. This time, he didn’t have a problem imagining Ken’s tone as he typed the words, the stern and commandeering shift in his dark eyes.
Fuck.
It shouldn’t turn him on.
