“I promise they’re all natural.”
“I never doubted them.”
Nathan laughed again. “You know, you never did thank me for that high quality video I sent.”
Ken sighed. It put him on guard, but it shouldn’t have surprised him that it had taken Nathan less than ten minutes to come up with something to push with.
“Did I have to?”
It had been a long time since Ken had had to be on alert to see what his boys came up with to get in trouble.
“Well, yes.” Nathan even pretended to think about it. “It’s not as easy as it seems. Takes a lot of energy, too.”
“Good to know.”
There was no way Ken would feed into his game, although he was also quick to catch up on the fact that being merely on the defensive wasn’t the way to achieve results. So, changing tactics, Ken walked back into the master bathroom, taking Nathan with him.
“Too bad we can’t recreate it here.”
Nathan’s eyes widened as he followed Ken’s gaze to the vintage-looking bath. “True. You should’ve thought about that.”
“You’re lucky I don’t want to punish you on my very first day here.”
“Am I, though?”
The question, though, didn’t have the same heat Ken was used to hearing from brats—one of the things that made Nathan into the enigma he was. He wished he could just ask, but Ken knew it wouldn’t lead anywhere.
Just as he knew he wasn’t punishing the supposed brat.
Definitely not today.
“I’m sure you can come up with other things to do.”
“Like what?”
By then, Ken couldn’t help but take pity on the guy before he bit off his entire lip or did some serious damage.
“Don’t be scared,” he whispered, using his thumb to draw the reddened bottom lip out of his mouth. “Remember what you said earlier? I just want you to be right now. To do what feels natural to you instead of what books or blogs or communities tell you.”
Hopefully, if Nathan relaxed enough to follow Ken’s instruction, it would shine more light on the kind of sub he was.
The kind of pet.
“Can I…” Nathan swallowed multiple times, panic in those hazel eyes Ken could imagine himself getting drowned in.
“Show me if you can’t use the words,” Ken allowed. “Just this one time.”
After all, he couldn’t have the boy getting any ideas, brat or not. Ken definitely couldn’t let all his guards down, forget why it was important that boys listened and obeyed and followed his rules.
He’d ponder more about all that later, though. When Nathan’s knees weren’t hitting the floor with a thud. When Nathan’s chest didn’t heave up and down as he kept his gaze cast to Ken’s shoes.
“Look at me.”
Nathan was striking, looking up from that position, eyes full of wonder, his features showing an underlying calm that hadn’t been there before.
“Does kneeling for me feel good?”
Ken had predicted he wouldn’t get anything more than a nod from the boy. That was why he wasn’t sure he managed to hide his surprise when a whispered “Yes, Sir” slipped past Nathan’s lips.
