Page 47 of The Saviors: Part Two
“I’d like that.”
“Let us know when things are in order, and we can move tonight.”
“How’s Ghost doing?” I ask.
“He’s bummed but understands. I told him he can still keep in contact, but he can’t visit until Charlie is dead. I’m going to fill them in on everything. I’ll talk to you guys later.”
The call disconnects, and Chelsea heads to her office with me right behind her. I pull up a chair beside her and watch her work in amazement. Just like she said, within two hours, she’s putting the final seal on everything and handing it to me.
“Ace Morris? Why couldn’t we give him something embarrassing?”
“Because he took a bullet for me, and I’m not an asshole like you.”
“That hurts that you think I’m an asshole, Gorgeous.”
Chelsea rolls her eyes. “You are an asshole. But I love you anyway.”
“Now you’re just trying to get into my pants.”
“If I wanted into your pants, all I’d have to do is blink.”
“This is true,” I laugh. “And I love you too. I need to go see what Axel has planned.”
I peck her lips and head out of the office. My toes start tingling, but I shake it off because it still happens occasionally, even with the therapy. I look downstairs for Axel but don’t find him anywhere, so I head upstairs to see if he’s there. I get about halfway up when the tingling shoots through my legs. “Shit,” I groan, trying to grab hold of the handrail. I miss and start to fall backward when I hit something hard.
“Damn it, Sean,” Kai grunts. “Why didn’t you say anything?”
“It just happened, Gorilla.”
“So you thought going up a flight of steps was the answer?”
“Are you going to lecture me or help me out?”
“I should let your ass roll to the bottom.” Kai scoops me up in his arms, but his jaw is clenched, and his body is ramrod straight. I feel the subtle shaking of his arms and know this is fucking him up.
“You can call someone else,” I say quietly, but he’s already moving. “Kai?”
“I got it. Just hang on.” He walks to Chelsea’s room and lays me on the bed. Kai steps back and starts pacing like a caged animal, muttering something under his breath.
“Kai? Are you good?”
He whirls on me, his eyes getting that crazy gleam in them. “No, I’m not fucking good, Sean! I feel like my clothes are suffocating me now. How fucked up is that?”
I shrug. “Then get naked, Gorilla. I won’t mind.” His eyes narrow, and I think I figured out how to push past this. He might kick my ass, or it will work. There’s only one way to find out. “Come on. Show me that big cock.”
“This isn’t a fucking joke. I’m going to get your meds and Chelsea.”
He turns around and is one step out of the room. “Are you scared, Kai? Scared I might hurt you?”
He’s beside the bed in a flash. “No. I’m scared I might hurtyou.” And there it is—the root of all Kai’s problems. He’s not afraid of one of us hurting him, he’s afraid we might push him too far, and he’ll hurt us.
“I’m not scared of you, Kai. Never have been and never will be.”
“You know what I can do.”
“Yeah, and you’re aware of what I can do. If you wanted to hurt me, you wouldn’t have caught me before I fell down the stairs. You are your own man, Gorilla. You need to figure out if you can move past this.”
“It isn’t that easy!”
