Page 107 of The Saviors: Part Two
“Charlie is going to be expecting us to hit,” Cole muses. “Should we sit on it and make him sweat it out?”
“Probably,” Axel replies. “He’ll be waiting for us to come after him and then send in the tip. Make him keep looking over his shoulder. Nolan, can you see if you can track Amber’s phone? It’s a long shot because it’s probably gone by now, but it’s worth a try.”
I type in the number that I have for her, and it shows her last known location as Forest Grove, but that was hours ago. I shake my head, and Axel squeezes the back of my neck.
“I feel like shit that she got the drop on us,” Nik says.
“I should have had you grab her when we grabbed Brady, but I was too focused on him. It’s not your fault,” Axel assures him.
“What if they move from the compound?” Dex asks.
Axel shakes his head. “He won’t. He knows this has to come to an end with either me or him dead. Charlie wants us to hit on his turf. He tried to grab us on his terms and knows he won’t get the chance again.”
“Let’s regroup,” Zane suggests. “We’ll revisit this when you feel it’s time.”
Axel nods and stands up. “I need to talk to my family. We’ll be outside.” Axel nods his head for us to follow, and he leads us out onto the back patio. “I think we should ask Chelsea to marry us,” he says without preamble.
Cole laughs. “Did you think you were going to get an argument?”
“I’ve been planning my proposal since the first night I met her,” Sean says. “Then I planned the wedding.”
“You probably really did,” Kai comments. “You won’t get any objections from me.”
“Me either,” I agree. “We can enlist the girls to help since we can’t go anywhere.”
Axel clears his throat and reaches into his pocket. He pulls out a ring box and pops it open. “It was my mom’s. It’s the only thing I have left from her, and I’ve carried it around for years. It’s Chelsea’s size. We can have it customized if you guys want to.”
“It’s just miraculously Chelsea’s size?” Sean says dryly.
“Okay. I had it fucking sized for her. Sue me.”
“You big teddy bear!” Sean jerks Axel into a hug, laughing. “I think we should keep the ring as is. Maybe we can each get her something to go with it.”
“I have the perfect idea.” I pull my phone from my pocket, and Bridget walks out onto the porch minutes later. We lay out our plan, and she squeals so loud that we have to shush her.
“Sorry.” She claps her hands. “I’m so damn excited. Give me a list, and I’ll make this shit happen.”
We sit down around the table, and Bridget happily types everything into her phone. We come up with something that incorporates all of us, and Bridget agrees that it’s perfect. There’s no doubt in my mind that Chelsea is the woman for us. I might be young, but I want to spend the rest of my life with these people. They might be just mercenaries to some.
But to me, they’re family.
Chapter35
Sean
Iwasn’t lying when I said I was planning to make Chelsea mine for the rest of my life that first night. I might have fought against it, but I knew deep down that she was the one for me. Deeper than that, I knew she was the one forus.I’ve never seen the Saviors this fucking happy, even when we were pretending to be okay.
After our hilarious planning session with Bridget, she went back upstairs with Chelsea, and we took a while to let it soak in. I have no doubt that Chelsea will say yes, but the nerves are still there, no matter what.
Growing up with someone like my dad, I didn’t know what love was. Hell, he can rot in prison, and I’d never even care. I loved Ghost growing up, but it wasn’t the same. Then I met Cole, and I felt love for the first time. Yeah, it sucked because he didn’t reciprocate my feelings at the time. Now, he’s going to live this life with me. Happy and blissed the fuck out.
The backdoor opens, and I turn around to watch Ghost step out with two beers. He sits beside me on the patio and hands me one. “You’re really going to do it?”
“Hell yeah,” I say without hesitation. “Bridget tell you?”
Ghost laughs. “Just a little piece of advice? There isn’t much that Bridget doesn’t tell us. I’m fucking happy for you, man. Did you ever think we would get this growing up?”
I shrug and take a sip of my beer. “No. I was convinced my dad would kill me before I could get out.”
