Wedding Day...

Soft kisses on my shoulder woke me up from a deep slumber.

Before I could even open my eyes, I found myself smiling.

In a swift motion, I turned on my other side, finally allowing my eyes to pop open.

The most handsome man in the world was on the other side of the darkness, looking at me with so much love in his eyes that it made me whimper.

“Good morning, wifey,” he greeted me in a voice laden with the remnants of sleep.

I swallowed the ball of emotion I was feeling. “Good morning, hubby.”

Kai stroked a finger down my face before leaning forward to place a kiss on my lips.

“We’re getting married today,” he whispered as if it were a secret.

I nodded while my eyes flooded with fresh tears. I wasn’t even five minutes into the day, and I was already crying. He kissed them away, not caring if they were salty and filled with my emotions.

“You ready?”

I palmed his cheek and allowed myself to get lost in his gaze.

Being around Kai made everything slow down to the point of being insignificant.

I never expected to fall so in love with this man.

But for some reason, he stepped in and saved me from our enemies.

Since then, he’d laid those enemies to rest and continued to show up for me like it was the very coding of his DNA.

When we met, I didn’t think he would mean so much to me.

Waking up with him on our wedding day, all I knew was that I couldn’t see my life without him. Sekai Walker was it for me.

“Yes, I’m ready. I can’t wait to be your wife.”

A flicker of lust flashed in his eyes seconds before he snatched me to him for a passionate kiss that made my toes curl.

Just as his hands began to explore a little more, a rainstorm of knocks landed on the door.

We had no time to respond because Jiah and Nazje burst into the room.

Jah followed closely behind with a bottle of champagne.

“Let’s get married!” the girls screamed excitedly while jumping up and down.

Jah walked a little closer to the bed and squinted. “Y’all naked under there?”

Kai took the covers and tossed them over me, along with his body. “Nigga, get the fuck out.”

We all laughed because Jah loved to get under Kai’s skin.

My baby did not play about me, and he couldn’t stand the thought of another man admiring what he deemed to belong only to him.

Apparently, he was the only man allowed to look at me.

I don’t know how he expected that to work, but he swore he could whup any and everybody’s ass.

He’d even promised to do it back to back if needed.

“Everything is already set up for you, Nuri. We’re so excited to be able to shower you with the love you’ve given us since the day we met,” Jiah said.

I started to sniffle as her words hit me right in the core.

Kai studied my face, and whatever he saw had him turning to look at everybody. “Aye, give us a minute alone, please. I’ll send her to y’all as soon as I’m finished with her.”

The girls didn’t object and turned to leave the room, but of course, Jah had to say something.

“Talkin’ ’bout when you’re finished with her... You’re about to give her some dick, ain’t it? Lucky ass nigga! I can’t wait until I find me a damn wife.” He continued to rant on his way out the door.

Kai dropped his head with a disappointed shake.

“I don’t know where we failed him,” he mumbled, making me giggle. He turned to look at me, then tried to remove himself from on top of me, but I wrapped my arms and legs around him, pulling him right back into position. He pecked my lips a few times. “What is it, baby?”

I opened my mouth to speak but ended up sobbing instead. Kai moved quickly to sit up and pull me into his arms. I inhaled his fresh scent, wishing I could cling to his skin just like that. I held on to him for dear life, and of course, he allowed it until I was able to find my voice.

“I am so thankful for your family, but...”

“You wish yours were here to celebrate with you too.” I nodded, feeling a little ashamed. “Hey, that’s okay, baby. It’s perfectly normal. I wouldn’t expect anything less. I actually have something for you because I had a feeling you might be feeling this way today. Come on.”

Kai grabbed my hand and pulled me off the bed.

We went over to the lounge area of our suite.

Even though we were having a small and intimate ceremony that included the family, Sekai spared no expense.

We were staying in a beautiful villa near Lake Como in northern Italy and would be married at a venue that sat high above the gorgeous blue sea.

The pictures did it no justice because I cried from the striking view when we went to tour it in person.

I headed to sit on the couch while Kai went to the TV. He messed around with it, then came back with the remote. When he sat next to me, I instantly hugged his arm, scooting closer. His right hand went to my thigh while the left one lifted the remote to navigate the TV.

I sat up straight as a board when my mother’s face came on the screen.

She looked so radiant and full of life. Even though she came from money, she was an Erykah Badu type.

I missed being able to smell her floral scent.

I had a perfume in my collection that I wore because it used to be hers.

I typically wore it on the days I needed her most.

“My light... You know I love recording things, and today you were sad about something that happened at school. I sang to you, and the way your smile lit up the room, I knew I had to record it for you to have if there ever comes a sad day where I won’t be there.

Life will come with many of them, but they are only moments.

You have to take them in stride and know that things will get better.

You deserve all the love, joy, peace, and fun this world has to offer.

Allow yourself to enjoy it all, even the things that hurt.

Anyway, this song is for you, baby girl. ”

I gasped as she began to sing the familiar tune. Kai wrapped his arms around me and kissed my shoulder. I wasn’t sure how he’d found this video, but it was just what I needed right now.

“Thank you, baby.”

“You’re welcome, Legacy. Your parents may not be here physically, but they are here. Today is all about showering you in the love they wanted you to find.” He smiled widely. “Let’s go get married.”

My heart raced as Ingram walked me to the venue entrance.

The only thing to give me strength was knowing Sekai was waiting on the other side of these doors.

Ingram looked down at me and smiled. “You look beautiful, Nuri. I admit when my son first came to me and said he was considering marrying you, I thought he was crazy. Now that I know you, I understand, and I am so happy he trusted his gut. You both deserve genuine love.”

I grinned. “I thought he was crazy, too. Well... he kinda is but in a good way.”

We chuckled right before the doors came open.

I inhaled sharply when I saw Kai standing there in front of the most breathtaking view I’d ever seen.

It was nice when it was bare, but with the addition of a golden arch and beautiful floral arrangements, it turned into something else.

It was so special and like a fairytale dream come true.

He looked sharp with a fresh re-twist, barrel style, and lineup.

My mouth watered when he turned to look at me and licked his lips.

Since I was a little girl, I always knew that I wanted to be married in my mother’s dress.

I didn’t feel like it was right to wear it the first time we got married, but today was the perfect occasion for it.

It was a beautiful lace and tulle A-line dress with falling sleeves, ivory beading all over, flower patchwork, and a long train.

My hair was in a big afro as requested by my husband.

He told me he loved my hair like that for our first wedding.

I felt like a princess standing there about to walk to the man of my dreams.

When we began walking, I paused, hearing my mother’s voice.

I wasn’t familiar with the song, but I would know her voice anywhere.

I tried to keep my tears at bay as she sang a beautiful song about love, marriage, and happily ever after.

It was literally perfect, and I could only thank the man Ingram passed me off to.

He took my hands in his, and a shudder went down my spine.

“I love you so much,” I cried.

He smiled. “I love you more, Nuri Symone. Are you ready to become an official Walker, baby?”

I nodded. “As long as I am walking through life with you.”

“Shit, let’s do it then,” he said before he nodded for the officiant to begin.

After hundreds of pictures, we were escorted to our private yacht.

We’d opted for a sunset dinner cruise versus a reception at the wedding venue.

I hadn’t stopped smiling for hours. Our wedding party consisted of Kai’s family, and that was all we needed.

They all knew I didn’t have anyone else, so they went out of their way to ensure I never felt alone today.

I had FaceTimed Samara earlier while I was getting ready.

She wasn’t able to leave because of school, but she was there in spirit.

We promised to hang out when I got back to the States now that danger was all gone.

She’d even let me know that Kaliyah had been killed during the hell Kai raised in the city.

It hurt a little because she was a childhood friend, but like my brother, she’d become an enemy of mine. I shed no tears for her.

Azani came over holding Kairi. He was three months old now and the cutest little thing. Kai and I typically called him by his middle name because of what it meant to us.

“Let me see my baby,” I cooed, opening my arms for him.

She passed him off and huffed a sigh of relief. “Girl, you fall for it every time. I’m tired of holding his chunky butt.”

I laughed. “Don’t talk about my baby like that. He’s going to walk all his weight off when he starts walking.”

Azani waved me off. “Whatever. Have fun. I’m going to go find somewhere to sneak in a nap.”

She rushed off before I could even respond.

I didn’t mind, though, because Azani was a rockstar mother.

She didn’t use being young as an excuse, so she was juggling motherhood along with finishing school.

We all chipped in to help her in whatever way we could.

Kairi had spent many nights at the estate so his mother could get some time to herself.

I smiled when I felt arms wrap around my waist. Kai kissed me on the cheek, and I could smell the alcohol on his breath.

I loved it when he got faded because the torture he put my pussy through was so worth it.

I was already creaming thinking about it.

If I weren’t careful, I’d be holding a baby of our own in the near future.

He slowly walked in front of me then began playing with Kairi.

“Did you finally get your fairytale wedding, Nuri Symone?”

I nodded, biting my bottom lip. “Mhm, and you told me that you couldn’t give me that.

Look at me now, holding your heart in my hands.

” I held my palm up as if I was really holding his heart.

“It’s okay. I’m going to take good care of you too.

” Kai paused his dancing with Kairi to stare at me.

“Stop looking at me like that.” I giggled before pinching Kairi’s cheeks.

He licked his lips as his eyes dropped lower. “Looking at you like what?”

I nodded at the railing of the yacht. “Like you want to bend me over that railing.”

He chuckled. “I do, but I’ma wait until I get you back to the villa.”

He took his nephew from my arms and began dancing with him. I loved the way Kai was with him. He was so soft, gentle, and sweet that it melted my heart every time. I honestly couldn’t wait until the day I could give that man a baby or two.

Jiah came over to me, wrapping an arm around my waist. I kissed her cheek as we swayed to the music. We all migrated to the dance floor as Beyoncé’s “Before I Let Go” began to play. Of course, I ended up bent over in front of my husband, bouncing my ass cheeks even while he held Kairi.

Everything about the moment was so perfect.

Of course, there were some things I would’ve changed, like having my parents here, but Kai had done such an amazing job of including them in this day that I felt at peace about their absence.

Today I became a wife for real, and I was looking forward to more life with my husband.

As we stood at the railing watching the sun set in the distance, all we could do was stare.

With a man like Kai, a lot of talking wasn’t necessary.

His loyalty was unmatched, and the love he had for you could be felt whether from the way he looked at you, touched you, or the things he did.

The way he thought ahead to prepare me for going through this day without my parents was proof of his love.

I mean, I already knew he loved me when he was ready to turn the city into a war zone.

However, this was different. Today was proof that Kai saw me.

That he was present. That was all a girl could ever ask for.

He placed a kiss on my cheek, and I melted into his frame, ready to explore the curves of eternity with this man… my Virgo…
